Opti Vs...?

Can we get a comprehensive thread going on what else is available for the consumer market as a paint sealant/protectant and what people recommend that isn't Opti-Coat? The stuff sounds great, but I'm sure there's others out there.

I've been out of the detail game for a long time now, but I used to use and love Klasse All In One and Klasse Paint Sealant. I used these on my cars and customers cars all the time. I haven't seen these mentioned at all on here, and was wondering if anyone could lend some input.

Also, what else is out there that you guys are fond of? Zaino is still big, I'm sure, too. Any input greatly appreciated

Cheers,
Isaac

Opti coat/guard and Cquartz are permanent coatings.

Wolf's Hard Body is a semi-permanent sealant that will last up to 2 years. It is by far the easiest to apply (can be done with a d/a)

Zaino will last 6 months and was what I used for 7 years prior to these coatings and long term sealants came on the market. KAIO with KPS lasts from 4-6 months.

Then of course you have waxes that will last 4-6 weeks and are a waste of time IMO.

I just had my FR-S done with HD Nitro Seal. They advertise 12-18 months protection but my detailer told me to realistically expect 8-12 months. Looks fantastic.

I think you mean some waxes will last 4-6 weeks. We have seen waxes like AG HD, Raceglaze 42 / 55 / Black Label and Collinite products all last upwards of 4 months without issue.

Not sure about the other alternatives, but OC professionally installed is around $300-350. If you do it yourself, it's $60 just for the OC. You will have to wash, clay, polish if necessary, IPA, and OC it.

I'm a Zaino and Blackfire fan. I always get compliments on my old black paint after the Zaino treatment.

I actually have a mostly empty can of Xzilon. From what I gather, it's a similar sealant coating that dealers install per request. I used to sell detail chemicals to Colonial Hyundai Cadillac and they swore by it. Never seen it mentioned before your post, though!

Zaino hasn't updated their product line in awhile, so they aren't as popular as they were in say, 2006. Still good products; but you know how detailing is... flighty.

OC is definitely in a class of it's own, or close. Coatings (OC/OG, cQuartz original/finest/UK, gtechniq EXO, Hard Body) are all the rage now.. 2+ years durability, OC/OG says permenant. I've used OC/OG, HB, cQuartz original and Finest... all good products. I find OC/OG the easiest to use, hard to pick a favorite.

For regular sealants/waxes Wolfs Body Wrap, HD Nitro Seal etc are all nice. Waxes, take your pick. I still love Collinite 915.
