as others have said, don't mod it. Go learn to drive at some AutoX events, defensive driving courses, etc. 200hp may be slowish by today's standards, but it's fast enough to kill you quickly.

All of you giving advice on being a good driver and shit, you're wasting your time. No 17 yr old is going to listen to strangers on the Internet. Let him wrap his car around a tree, best lesson ever.

High-performance driving school, autocross, track days. Learn as much as you can. I wish someone gave me this advice when I was 17! Instead I kept wasting money modifying my car instead of bettering myself as a driver. I didn't make it to my first event until I was 21, and I had some natural talent thankfully, but there was a LOT of catching up to do compared with the kids who started young.
The FR-S is a slow car for a fast driver. Your best "mod" is to become a fast driver. Good luck!

When he gets out on track he'll realize it's a slow car. Hence why he needs to become a fast driver to fully exploit it.

Sorry, but I'm going to hate. I honestly don't care that his parents bought it for him (most likely). Age isn't what bothers me as I'm sure there are some die hard enthusiasts who knows a ton more than me at 16 or even 14. I do find it annoying he can't even spend a slight bit of time to read through the forums or do search. There's a wealth of information here or if you want a short cut, go to the vendor sub-forum and pick out what's available.
If you don't know what's available, or even what you'd want to mod, or even why you'd want to mod it, just leave it alone. |

LMAO "take the rear seats out"... I doubt this 17 year old is turning their brand new car into some track rat.. leave the seats in and enjoy the car. Take some time to find what mods YOU want. That being said.. debadge is an easy one, HIDs are also a good first mod.
