Was thinking, if the welded washer on the perch is too big. Can't we just add another washer of the right size work? Only if that is the cause of the binding.

I'm hesitant on buying these cause I'm worried I won't be able to install them properly... and considering shops can't do it right either I don't know what to do. lol.

Do people without the Whiteline tophats have the popping issue? Have people with the popping issue tried swapping out the Whiteline tophats for the stock ones? Maybe that's the culprit??

My car is in the shop right now being diagnosed by the suspension shop that installed it. I have the factory top hats in the trunk and told them about it..

Still no popping from my car so far.

I was just thinking about this. Of the two other cars in this thread, one at -0.8 camber and the other at -1.5, mine has the most neg camber at -2.0. If the tolerances are as tight as Myles thinks they are, maybe the more upright angle of my struts due to the max camber setting is providing enough clearance.

I know when un-installed there are no clearance issues. The tophats had no resistance to spinning freely. But when mounted to the car perhaps the strut is angled just enough for the upper perch to touch. I don't know, I didn't look too closely at the clearances after determining that the tophats spun freely.

Maybe a tiny short washer the same size as the bearing would fix this?

Anyone have a picture of the bottom of the stock top?

Or maybe it's just an installation issue. RCE drove around with this setup for quite awhile before they released it.

The shop that installed it diagnosed the top mount as causing the problem. They said the bearings were popping and not the springs. I had them reinstall the original factory top mounts and the popping went away.

repack the bearings with more greasy. maybe its a defect that they didnt leave enough grease in them, causing them to be dry and get stuck after use and heat.

I just got off the phone with Racecomp Engineering. I am not pleased with how Myles handled the situation. Worst customer service I have experienced from any of the vendors around here.

I just wanted support for a defective product they sold, but I got a lecture instead on how its not their fault and it is the manufacturer. I get it the first time he told me that, and could have been more supportive rather than implying that the very reputable suspension shop I use was giving up too easily so that they can make money off of me. At first he even refused to call the suspension shop to get all the details and ask questions on what happened. He eventually agreed to talk to the shop if the shop called them.

Anyways, long story short I will be emailing them what the shop found so that they can forward that to Whiteline. I just wish I did not have to go through being treated badly.
