Okay, I think that settles it; I have to get the Perrin crank pulley. Right now, my tC revs up faster than the FR-S, though my tC has a set of NST crank, alternator, and water pump pulleys.

You'll be glad you got one! Just make sure to get a pulley tool to help with the install. I had to get one for my MT 86.

Anyone know what a painted BRZ premium bumper costs? I tried to avoid eating it head on by swerving right, but I just punted a 2ft long 3in wide metal pipe elbow across i20 from the right lane before exiting to go home. Seriously hoping nobody gets hurt by it. It is going to need a new front bumper. What did I do to deserve this?!!

With any luck a painted bumper without install labor costs less than $1000 which would keep me out of insurance/carfax hell. Not holding my breath.

What a tragedy! Good thing you didn't have an front under spoiler.

The problem is this car is so low on stock form, I have to be extra cautious of debris on the road.

Hope you find a affordable fix... Maybe if insurance covers it, you could use the money on a aftermarket bumper!

Just got off the phone with the parts dept at my local dealer (Troncalli, who have paint/body shop on site) and was quoted:
  • $299 for an unpainted bumper cover
  • $16 for the drivers side fog light plastic insert,
  • $305 for paint
  • $126 install labor
For a grand total of $773. Better than expected...

I think I will read the DIY to remove/install the bumper a few times and take the new painted bumper home and swap it myself.

Not too bad. The bumper removal is pretty simple and straight forward. The only tricky part was the bolts securing the fender tot the bumper located behind the side marker lights.

Good luck!

After having the car detailed today and putting some touch up paint on the scratches I decided for now to just buy a new plastic insert for the DRL and put that on. Who knows when I'll hit another piece of road debris and it will just get messed up over time at track and auto-x events. Hopefully it wont be that noticeable after I replace the insert.

Makes sense, and it's not too noticeable. The plastic insert isn't event that noticeable either.

Can a repair shop just fix the bottom fender for you? Wnt be perfect, but may look cleaner.

After some generic black touch up paint I had lying around. The crack in the urethane at the bottom is all that you can really see until there's strong light on it. For now, the $15 the plastic piece is gonna have to suffice until I hit some more road debris or it gets murdered at the track before I can drop the $600 on a new painted bumper.

Yeah I was gonna say this.. This will give you time to save up for the $773 you were going to spend, just in case you ever EVER need to get a new front bumper.. Or just get an FRS one?

The bright side to all this is that now I've got an idea for a dremeling project to make custom brake cooling ducts out of the factory inserts!

Taking a negative situation and making something positive! I like what you are doing with this.

Some pics after Byran @ Peachstate Detail had his way with my BRZ yesterday. After a detergent wash and immaculate detail and 1 step polish he spent a lot of time prepping the paint with isopropyl alcohol for the Wolf's Hard Body coating. This stuff looks amazing and keeps the paint protected from scratches. These pics were actually taken before I put touch up paint on the bumper damage.
