I might have to consider postponing my BRZ purchase due to these problems.
They replaced the Right bank VVTi Cam gear and oil control valve. They reassembled it, test drove, and now the left bank is reporting the same issue. Parts are on backorder until late September, and that's the optimistic estimate.

My service manager called me this morning and said parts on order (cam gears) with NO ETA.
Salesguy say they are working on getting approval through Scion to replace car with new.

In the mean time I'm driving their 2012 Camry. Not a fan. Prefer previous generation Camry, or my FRS!

Has anyone within these "spreads" had the Visconti STG1 flash?? Possibly an idea. Not too sure how well it would help, if any at all.

I had the vvti gear replaced and solenoid. Cel came back leaving the dealership. They ordered and installed the upgraded ecu which resolved my issue. Visconti has a copy of that flash which he is putting his tune on. I have the stg1 flash but its using the older ecu flash. I have not had cel issue since 2k miles on the new ecu or 100 miles on the stg1.

Got CEL and TC light at about 750 miles. Idle issue.

I got no help from the dealership I bought it from. Terrible service from Scion in stevens creek in so many ways after the sale.

Brought it to Hayward Scion. Much better service.

Dropped off in early Aug. ordered 3 parts and had them replaced in 10 days, after an estimate of 3 weeks.

Parts replaced: actuator, oil control valve, cam gear, and is now running normal at 1200 miles.

Is Scion doing anything else for these customers other then free rental?

I ask becasue it seems everyone is being treated differently with the same problem. Some people are having to wait longer for parts then others. Some are getting rental upgrades. Ect. Make sure you ask for what you want to make this sale right for you!

I hope all these issues get fixed for everyone. I am hoping it doesn't manifest itself on my FR-S later down the road. I am currently at 8900 miles, crossing my fingers I can go another 90,000 miles without mechanical issues.

griffunitt, FR-S, 150 mi, 7088XX, in shop, WI.

Bought the car in Madison, WI. Drove it back to IL and experienced the issue the moment I got home. Brought it straight to Toyota near my house, they cleared the fault, drove it around a bit and it came back on. Left it there but was told they will not be able to work on it until Tuesday. =(

The anticipation of my first check engine light is killing me!!! So exciting!!!

Pushed in the clutch the other day and had the idle drop to a hair below 400rpms, car stumbled for a second and it almost stalled...thought I'd gotten lucky there! At least if that happens I'll have something to show the dealer that they can't claim is "normal"...

Hmm, pushing in the clutch and low idle? Is this primarily a problem with the manual transmission owners?

Had an amazing drive last night in the mountains. This car is just so captivating!

Twinturba, FR-S, 1510 miles, 7059xx. Plan to take it in Tuesday when the shop opens. Northern California

Just happened today, first started idling really rough almost stalling then cel and slip light on. Shut car off and after restart the slip light went away but the cel remains. Limped home and now the cruise light is also on in the same color as the cell!
