Honestly, I don't see it as an issue (yet.) because the chirping sound from my BRZ just sounds exactly the same as the GTI I came from, which of course had direct injection (and all of them I've seen had this sound).

Granted, the sound was insulated a lot better in the engine bay so you couldn't hear it when the hood was closed.

I came down with the chirp after a couple thousand miles. I switched to corn free gas and the chirp went away.
Cost-Co is the only non-name brand gas I used. I think the sound was worse with Cost-Co gas come to think of it.

No non-ethanol stations near me.

Yeah, California is the irony capital. There are few, if any ethanol-free stations left. I see some maybe's way up North (well over 600 miles from me). But the irony is we don't really have e85 either.

Dear California,

Take ethanol out of my gas make e85 with it.

I switched to Shell V Power (just because it was on my way), from Chevron and 76 here in Northern California and the chirping largely went away.

A little over 1700 miles now, VIN 2000 range and no chirping ever. Have been using Shell 93 octane with the exception of one Exxon fill-up out on the road. 1000 mile engine break-in was done with highway driving - S. Carolina to Texas. I'm going to keep using the Shell.

Noticed the same thing. First tank from dealer, no chirping. Second tank of gas from Shell, no chirping. Third fillup I went with Chevon and then I started hearing the chrip. Fourth tank, back to Shell and the chirping has pretty much gone away again.

Same here, I just happened to go to a Shell since it was on my way instead of my normal Kroger/BP and noticed yesterday after running through about half a tank of gas it is pretty much gone. I'm at 1800 miles and have noticed it since around 500 miles on the car.

I'm at ~5,600 miles and I don't believe I've heard any chirping, despite the fact that I was slightly aware of the issue from scanning the forums.

In any case, I've filled it with premium almost exclusively from super Wawa, which is like a 7/11 but better, in the North East.

Not sure what my VIN is, but I think I've got #3005 or so produced.

Premium at wawa is 92. Just an FYI. Unless it's different elsewhere.
