I live 10mim from big al, and we know each other very well.

Long story...

Anyways I know what your talking about.

I don't have the time to help open source.. I have a full plate as it is with all the tuning I'm doing.. I don't just tune the BRZ ..

This is some what turning like the Genesis platform where everyone is being cheap waiting for the cheapest thing to come out. All this will cause is for manufacturers to back out with this platform and other willing to spend the money to make things happen will be affected. No other mod will give 30whp+ for the money.

It's certainly not that way for me. My standpoint is this, you buy a $750 tune, yet you have no idea what it is aside from a flash that makes peak hp. John I'm not making stabs at you, so don't take it that way, I'm just trying to make my view known. Any "tuner" can make you some hp. Leaned out AFRs, advanced timing, increase rev limits, etc. But there is huge potential for reliability/longevity issues that the end user will be none the wiser of until it's too late.

Granted 90% of the people buying flashes wont know how to interpret the data even if it was given to them, but for those of us who can, I want to know what my tune entails. Most tuners won't share your tune with you because you could steal it. You could copy their timing tables and fuel tables etc and then sell it as your own...and I don't blame them.

That's my reasoning for waiting on open source. I want to know what was remapped in my ecu, and the only way I will know that is to wait for software that the individual user can buy.

You have a point. And that's where you do your homework on what shop or tuner you choose but you have to trust your tuner. Also ECUTEK is a reputable company that has done their R&D for this product. I mean I've seen some sick GTRs with this tune, and let me tell you they run great.

From what I understand, John does the tuning (or any tuner for that matter). EcuTEK is just providing the tools to do so, such as software, base map, connectivity hardware, etc. I don't mind paying for these things, but they are just asking for people like me to shy away because they make their product only available to commercial tuners and do so by charging 3,500 for rights to their product.

P.S. John you're doing a great thing for the BRZ/FRS community. Keep up the continued development!

It'll be great to know all the data not values but actual changes and to what systems.

To my understanding ECUTEK Does provide the base maps or what might be along with the features when the car is stock. Now when there's a turbo set up involve yes is mostly the tuner making changes and modifying base maps.

They don't.

I'm also one of the few highest level EcuTek dealers in North America - aka "Master Dealer / Tuner" so trust me I would know.

That is the same thing I was thinking. It's not rocket science, but you need to do your homework, and have the right tools. If I did not have a career I would love to become a licenced tuner like what "Mellon" did.
Good job with the BRZ a real labor of love!

How do you go from being a regular dealer to a "Master" dealer?

Not easy

Can't do it overnight

You also have to meet a list of EcuTek requirements.
