I don't get the moaning about peak crank torque. Your car has a gearbox (aka torque multiplier). Use it and you'll immediately have more torque.
Or buy a Jetta TDI. That torque monster at 240lb ft gets to 60 in like 9 seconds. So fast! |

from what i've seen, all we gotta do is use some bolt-ons, then lighten the car, and we'll be good to go. we get the FRS down to about 2500 or less, and it will be nuts.
in short: bolt ons to 200whp, lighten car to >2500 = even more awesomeness sorry. that felt kinda random to me. but honestly? the OP suggesting a 370Z? have you even seen the front on it? looks like it's buck toothed with those bottom fangs. and the Hundai? meh...too many of them on the roads. |

In my opinion the FRS/BRZ is the sexiest cars compare to your STI/GTI/370Z combine..us owners have the aftermarket if we choose to make the car faster...DAMN my CAR is SEXY!!!

i didnt see the GTI or Z370 on the BestDrivers Car competition that MotorTrend put out just recently. That about sums it all up.
86 bhad some serious competition and still came in 4th.. and it was the Slowest of them all -- Why? oh well, ill keep my FRS and you can go back to the GTI or Integra....

Its funny when people think a torqueless 200hp car should be fun.....you already know you're buying this type of car....i think these reviews should be more of comparisons rather than bashing on it when its an abviously slower car. Can't wait to pick mine up and compare it with my four door si.

This right here. I think Jeremy Clarkson said it's more fun to drive a slow car that feels fast than a fast car that feels slow, which is why he never really enjoyed the NSX. Unless you're at the track, it's the thrill of driving, not the lap time or trap speed. |

It's always easier to add power, than to reduce weight while keeping it a daily driver.
I find it amazing how strong the aftermarket support is within a few months of actual release to the U.S. I'd rather add the horsepower/responsiveness, than to try to figure out ways to cut 500lbs. off of a 370z or Genesis Coupe.

That's exactly it - you can always add more and more power, but you can't make a car that much lighter.
Although you're going to lose a lot of responsiveness if you try to match power with a 300 horsepower car. The feel of an n/a engine is so much quicker though, which is why I wouldn't upset the balance of an FR-S street car with a massive turbo. |

I'm ready to go slow. I haven't owned anything under 400hp in a long time now, and frankly I can't wait to get into an FR-S. One of my favorite cars that I've ever owned was a 2001 Dodge Neon ACR that was heavily modified, all suspension though. Sway bars, strut bars, bushings, springs. It rode like crap, but it handled like a go-kart. I can't wait to tweak an FR-S with some KW coilovers and sway bars, and a more free flowing exhaust. The exhaust being louder tends to make a car "feel faster", it's all part of the experience, so I think that's a vital component.
I'm sure I'll be happy driving the car completely stock for at least 6 months to a year. I appreciate that they set the limits really low so you can have fun on the street. I don't really want 1g of grip on the street, I want something I can slide around in at 40mph when there's no other traffic around. |

A guy we used to autox with up here in PA drove a stock Neon coupe ACR and absolutely crushed in it. Car was bone stock. He was one of the more talented drivers I've seen. Very very smooth, very surgical. I think having a car like an FR-S would make someone a better driver, with a car that doesn't use power but finesse to be quick (Like the AE86?).
