Pacific Coast Highway is a great road most people will experience in a bad car. So the guys took the Scion FRS on a roadtrip and brought along a Hyundai Genesis Coupe and Lotus Elise for comparison.

That was an enjoyable 20 some odd minutes. I was considering all three of these before settling on the BRZ. This confirms my decision

Top Gear needs to do this review, on that road, with those cars.

I love their reviews. I've been waiting on a new one and here it is. With 2 of my favorite cars. Elise, BRZ/FR-S/GT86

So glad I didn't get a Gen Coupe, I was sort of looking at the 3.8 Tracks in the beginning.

Great review and great road.

Honestly though every conclusion in this that could have come to by walking up to all three cars in a random parking lot and looking at them with their doors locked. Just seems obvious to me.

Let me tell you something about Korean cars.

All their parts are shit. For example in a Mercedes axel you will find it to be one or two solid pieces. In Korean cars, it will be 10-15 pieces welded together. Complete garbage.

Just what I have heard from an insider with knowledge.

I also looked at the Gen coupe. I just couldn't bring myself to get one.

I hope I don't sound like a jerk, but I would rather drive a Scion brand than a Huyndai. I just can't do it.

Everything you said is either inaccurate or incorrect.

From 2003 to 2007 Mercedes were some of the least reliable cars you could possibly buy. Consumer reports and other automobile statistic groups had almost universal criticism of most of their cars. Essentially, they were built for 3 year lease agreements.

Since 2000, Hyundai has steadily improved in every automotive quality statistic that can be measured. Currently the Genesis Sedan has the highest customer satisfaction rating of a "luxury" car on consumer reports. The Mercedes GL managed to make the "worst of the worst" list this year.

Used cars to avoid from 2002 to 2011 according to CM:

Hyundai: Accent ’02; Elantra ’02; Entourage ’07-08; Santa Fe (4-cyl.) ’11; Santa Fe (V6) ’10-11; Sonata (4-cyl.) ’05; Veracruz ’08

Mercedes-Benz: C-Class (AWD) ’11; E-Class (AWD) ’09-10; E-Class (RWD) ’06; GL-Class ’07-09, ’11; M-Class (V6) ’02, ’06-07, ’09; R-Class ’06; S-Class ’04, ’06-07, ’09; SL ’05

New car predicted reliability for 2012
This graph shows how the makes rank based on their average predicted reliability scores. The score is the overall reliability calculated as a percentage better or worse than the average of all cars. The bar shows the range of scores between a make's worst and best models. The numeric score shown is the average for that make. To be included, a brand must have sufficient data for at least two models.
