If the tune will remedy this issue, I'm in!
If it helps any, the manual states that if the engine oil temperature is high it may choose to upshift even in Manual mode.

BTW, although we've already discussed waiting for facts, the manual contradicts this statement. It states "If sport mode is changed to while the select lever is in the M position, the SPORT indicator will come on but sport mode controls will not be carried out. Shift the select lever to the D position."
So, it sounds like the car is letting us turn it on, but it only does something once we're back in D, where it then just changes shift characteristics. FWIW, I wish they would have carried this philosophy across to when the the cruise control is set. But I don't want to hijack John's thread, so best leaving it there for now I expect.

So, there are theories as to why my auto trans upshifts in 3rd on its own, but it seems nobody knows exactly why its doing this. It holds redline and bounces off the limiter in 1st and 2nd, but 3rd seems to have a mind of its own.

The picture's back and according to the comments, yes (but it's nigh on impossible to assume all other things equal, such as oil temp and the mystery of any sports mode impact, we can't forget): http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=1&theater

There is absolutely no reason to email, txt or call me about your STG1 flash right now.

Updates about the flash and deployment info will be in this thread.

I was preparing all the flashes but keep getting interrupted

Thanks John. Do we need to back up our factory tunes prior to flashing the new one? Is that a simple process if we were wanting to do that?
