Damn. Looks like my motor just started chirping. It comes and goes. Or at least I think so, but it's definitely there. I just past 1,000 miles too.

In any case, it's good to hear a TSB is in the works for the fuel injectors. Thanks for the good news!
It seems to be the HP fuel pump rather than the injectors.

"I think the theory on ethanol free makes sense. I searched Yahoo Japan on this chirping issue to see if anyone in Japan is getting it, but apparently no one has even heard of the problem there. This is probably because they only use pure gas over there in Japan."

I find it weird that after autocross today in 95 degree hear there was no chirping. Only seems to happen after long leisurely drives. Didn't happen between runs for me.

Maybe when the engine's working harder at higher rpm, with the direct injection operating, the fuel flow through the HPFP keeps it cooler?
Then when you're cruising at lower rpm, with just the port injectors operating, the HPFP heats up with no fuel flow and engine heat soak?

you would be correct sir, the TSB will supposedly change the fuel pump, this is just hearsay for now, we shall see what they change when the time comes. I have faith that Toyota knows the problem and are doing their best to fix it

Toyota definitely knows the problem. I took my car in to get other issues addressed and also mentioned the chirp. Dealer called Toyota and were told that they are aware of it and working on a fix.

The feedback from the stealers seems to have changed from 'it's absolutely normal' to 'it's a known problem that will be fixed ASAP'
Good news and hopefully my GTS86 will be modified when it eventually gets built.
Was September build, then October, currently November.

I found the source of the chirping...
its the Belt tensioner .. you can visibly see the the tensioner fluctuate with the chirp...didn't notice it before when I was looking for it...noticed it yesterday after checking my new LW Kartboy pulley to make sure it was good..so I was directly starring at the belt.. Heard the Chirp and noticed the tensioner would oscillate and coincided with the Chirp... Some one can confirm this...but that was my Observation.. if you still have your Sound Generator tube connected...you wouldn't notice it..because its amplified and appears to come from the DI pump... I will take a video..

It's the HPFP and not the tensioner, it's been discussed many times in previous posts.

Best way to reproduce the chirp, put the AC on and drive for a few miles...thats how it's been for me. I've actively been avoiding the ac for short drives just to avoid the noise...Obviously it still happens during spirited drives, or just long highway drives, but i find i can reproduce the chirp extremely fast just by using AC with just casual short distance driving.

Yep, I have the cricket sound too. Just over 400 miles I was backing into my parking spot in my garage with both windows down.

Looks like I'm calling the dealer on Monday...:/

Tensioner wobble is normal per my service tech.

In my car, the chirp is coming from the diver's side of the engine bay, near where all the fueling stuff is. All signs point to the HPFP or similar.
