Problem, can't go over 2.5rpm ! :(

So yeah, I bought an AT fr-s. I did my 1600km, ready to race on track with it. I brought it to the Drag race.. only to discover I can't go over 2.5rpm on the start. It's blocked.

How shamefull to do that on a sport car. Can't get any good start on race. Of course, this isnt that bad on lapping or drift, but still not cool!

Anyone found a way to bypass it? Or ... remove it completly? My friend suggested me to get a new chip, to remove it completly. I guess that would take about 2 weeks.. but would my warranty still be good? (I got 7 years...)

Thanks for your help!

I tried both sport mode on and off. I had an AT corolla before and I could go over 2.5 :l

I have not tried this yet but from what I've read you can do it by only applying 70% or so of the brake pedal rather than all of it. There is an electronic brake assist when the brake is depressed nearly all the way that will limit your max RPMs. Try only pressing it in part way, or depress all the way and then back off a bit.

? As in torque converter allowance? or while driving? Neutral bombs or what are we talking about here. If you mean foot on the brake in drive, yeah definitely won't go over ~ 2500 rpm, because thats the limit of the torque converter. 2nd gear and up in manual mode locks the torque converter so there's no power loss, like a fully released clutch in a manual. It's actually faster in that sense for shifts. However, you're right. Off the line, the autos dog bad because the torque converter doesn't allow you to reach the power band off the line. I also had hoped for some sort of tricksy launch control for the auto cars but hey, it's durable and (as far as I'm aware-) reliable. This style transmission was designed for the IS-F, so is more than capable of supporting FR-S driving.

-- after reading posts... so now I'm confused... is the RPM electronically limited? I assumed it was a traditional auto in the sense that the fluid pressure in the torque converter only allows 2500rpm... Someone else suggested a brake stand AKA burnout? Yeah. Drag strip isn't gonna let that fly. I tried at like 2000 rpm just to see (fully aware of the dangers-) Yes the car will go from neutral to drive. HORRIBLE thing do to the transmission though...

Yeah I'm talking about Brake + drive to get around 4-5 rpm. I could on my last AT car.. but this one is blocked to 2.5rpm max. How is that? Why would they do that on a sport car.

So you're telling me there's nothing I can do to change that? There must be a way.

Does anyone know if I could use something like this : http://www.ecutek.com/Products/ProEC...mming-Kit.aspx to flash the car's computer so I can unblock the RPM maximum (2.5)? Would the warranty still be viable?

So you ask for a way to bypass it and then bitch about the answer? Nice...

Because when I said "bypass it" I mean to completly remove it. Not have to fight with the break the, some time, make it work. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I don't know if you race sir, but you don't have much time to fight with your break at the racing line. Having to "search for a sweet spot on your break, than give some gaz, if you start moving you then.. " no.. if you start moving, it's a false start and you lose.

I basically want it removed and I guess the only way is to flash the computer and retune it. I'll try that..

Okay. I suggest removing your auto trans and installing a manual...
