I'd liked to have gotten a BRZ-L 6MT...
BUT I figured I might not get a chance to buy one so I moved on with the FR-S (in the color I wanted though...) |

No regrets at all. Looked at a bunch of cars (911 S, Cayman S, M3, 135i, GTR, 370z Nismo, Evo, Miata) and there's nothing like the BRZ/FRS. You can spend a lot more money and go a lot faster, but it's not more 'funner' to drive.
I will, however, probably look at a 991 911 C2S in a few years after they have worked out some of the kinks.

plan on using this as a track car in 2-3 years, and will be buying a new m3 for a dd at the time. We decided on this car, based on the premise that it will be all paid off around the same time as our crv, and if we bought it used, we didn't think we would be able to find one that hasn't been beat to hell.

I would go back to 1963 and buy all the split window corvettes I could find and store them untouched until today.

No different, the FR-S/BRZ/GT86 is the only lightweight FR coupe you can currently get in the US... Now if a Ginetta G40R was available here the choice would be really tough: Miata NC drivetrain in a coupe that weighs ~700lbs less than a current miata....but has no daily driver creature comforts.
Race car for the road verses road car for the track that is more practical....hmmm, tough choice. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiqFGZuKtXU"]Ginetta G40 video review - YouTube[/ame]

I keep thinking I should have gotten the BRZ limited but then I realize I'm glad to have spent that money on mods instead. When I pick up another one of these it'll have to be a limited though.

If practicality/money is not an issue I'd get a 2013 Nismo.

I would've waited for someone to list their FR-S after just getting it due to impulse purchase or buyer's remorse. Coulda knock off $$$ for a two month old car.

I originally wanted a white BRZ, but the fascia reminded too much of my beloved S14 and so I opted for the more radical FRS. Only time will tell if this car measures up to my expectations. Long Live FRS!

If Toyota ever came to the US market with a version of the FR-S/GT86 that wasn't stripped down and had the upgraded interiors, HID, Fog Lights, ect ... I would buy that.
Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase until they come out with an STi or TRD version in the US.

I wanted a Cayman R even before I bought my previous MX-5... But it just isn't the right car for me at this point in my life. Close to $70k spent on a 2 seat sports car, and then tracking it regularly... Just couldn't justify the purchase, especially since one can have so many other expenses / priorities in life.
The FR-S was the most wise decision for me, and I would've regretted not opting for it. I'm a happy camper.
