Yep, looks like it. Here's a crappy pic:

Interesting approach with the two pins that go in first.

My buddy had a 2002 Boxster and picked up a similar thing as the MR kit above, but it bolted to the bumper via two caps that popped off to reveal a couple protrusions. Bolt on the adapters, and the two-tray bike rack slipped right on.

One should, if one can fit in a Fiat Abarth it can fit in an 86.

Since it's the "Tracking / Autocross / HPDE" subforum, not entirely sure if the OP is thinking about a bike trailer. But who knows... that's why I asked what he intends to tow.

I take a lot of gear to trackdays. Coolers, awnings, seating. I would love to have the option to tow a small trailer.

Understandable. I'm curious if you have packed for one of these yet. I ask because I packed for a two day autocross and I was shocked how much room I ended up having without trying very hard. As a graduate of "pack a Miata for week's trip to nationals" This car has a lot more room and I can get everything I want loaded and still have room for a passenger depending on my cooler choice.

so i was thinking if the euro/jdm spec cars have a tow rating. my dad was saying that his Yaris over seas has a 2000lbs tow rating but a 0 tow in the states. kinda a conspiracy to by a truck and a gas saver. just something to think about.

That could actually be pretty cool to have a quick-release bar. Not sure having the two rods sticking out the back all the time would be so cool though.

Yup, for instance the 2012 Civic in the UK is rated for
http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/newcivic...lspecification

500KG (1100 pounds) without brakes
1200KG (2,640 pounds) with brakes (hmm class 2 trailer hitch?)
75KG (165 pounds) tongue weight

and the car isn't a tank or anything, curb weight is 2800 pounds. I suspect that most cars in the UK have a similar tow rating right on the manufactures site.

Is the car designed to tow this weight all the time? Doubt it. But occasionally sure, as long as you drive gently.

--Upon looking up the Toyota 86 in the UK, http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toyo...-specification

There is no towing spec yet. So it depends on how secure third party hitches attach to the body.

Those pins just screw out and you'd replace the tow hook covers. If designed right, it should take less than five minutes to go from completely stock to hitch mounted and back.
