(Don't get me wrong, I love shifting my car manually.)

the truth is manual, no matter how primitive it is in the future, will always be the most satisfying way to drive, i came from a manual car, a very modified one at that to an automatic in my FRS
only reason i had for the auto, is i wanted to see how far it could go before i buy my second frs in manual, plus i wanted to learn balance, i spent too much time in 240's clutch kicking to drift, which my AE86 friends showed me wasnt the right way to properly learn drifting, i bought the auto to learn balance, the thing i had left behind when i first started modifying cars. there is no clutch to help me drift, i am slowly learning proper entrance speed to set up smooth balanced drifts, and the auto has taught me quite well, within a year i should have my second FRS and ill know how to drift without the clutch, but still retain the fun of rowing... yeah the auto in our cars is far very advanced but my left leg is longing the enjoyment of the clutch, the art of machine and man as one... thats something i just dont get in the auto and i long for it

but until i learn proper drifting with balance, i wont be buying a manual... doing things right this time...

Honestly, I'm still surprised that the BRZ made that list in the first place. :happy0180:

Well, it is a C2S (Carrera S), not a 'base' Carrera. The 997 C2S was a great ride and not a dog at all, and even a base 911 is still an engaging ride. But it is nice to see Porsche continue to refine the 'Beetle'. If they keep moving the engine forward it will soon become . . . a Cayman.

Nice to see our BRZ take 4th in a competition like this. Amazing. A little more power and tire and I'm sure it would have ranked even higher.

For background:

- Nismo 370z finished 7th (2009)
- Miata finished 3rd (2009)
- Cayman S finished 1st (2009)
- Cayman R finished 4th (2011)
- LFA finished 9th in (2011)

It looks like the strength of competition increased from 2009 --> 2011 based on a better handling version of the Cayman S falling from 1st to 4th.

Hard to tell how the 2011 cars compared to the 2012 cars. The GTR fell from 2nd to 3rd, but it seems the reviewers liked this version of the GTR less than last year's.

I think last year's field was pretty complete and the result about right along expectations. This year's field seems odd by comparison.

A little more power, a little better tires and a little better brakes and it might have been on top. But think about it. You can buy a BRZ AND a FR-S for the price of the next cheapest competitor in this contest.

For the average middle class car enthusiast the BRZ is the hands down, end all, best driver's car in that field.

Sweet. A friend of mine is getting a Camaro SS, now if he makes fun of my car, I'll just point at this video mwahaha.

I dont need speed, I need control! BRZ has the best available.

Very impressive results from the BRZ considering the class and price range it's competing. Plus being that it's the first year of being released well done !

Pobst said to get the 911 with PDK - that's enough endorsement to convince me!

Re: C63 "like a BRZ with 300 more horsepower". Yeah, I'm sure that's what Mercedes was aiming for. Hahaha. That said, if the BRZ did have say 300 or 350hp, it likely wouldn't change it's standings in this contest. The AMG (obviously more car than a BRZ) got 2nd, and the BRZ would have to really impress to "pass" the GT-R for 3rd place.

Man, these reviews still get me amped up and wanting to run out to the garage and go rip around. Alas, BRZ is at the office....

The video really emphasized how the American car makers are out there on the cutting edge of styling...
