Almost there.....but question
So i'm almost ready to ink a deal for a raven mt frs however my sales guy refuses to discount mrsp. he kept saying absolutely not they cant and wont since there is a line up of people waiting and they'll sell to the next one paying full pop.
I find this hard to believe since I read on here about the 6% markup and a couple got the $700 off and even a $1000 off so I cant see why they wouldn't budge for $700 off. They gave me more then I expected on my trade in but I had to walk out since they refused to move on msrp. just thought i'd post to see if anyone had suggestions. also has anyone had experience with the bluetooth system? any good? cheers guys |

Well, he's not lying to you. Chances are he already has people on a waiting list to order one, and chances are that if you pass up there will be three people to replace you waving money in their hands.
The FR-S is a hot car, and aside from that, Scion's Pure Pricing means that haggling is a very difficult if not impossible feat to accomplish. I paid full MSRP for mine, why? Because my salesman worked for it, he earned his commission and frankly anything that you do negotiate off this car will come straight out of his pocket. My advice would be to find a dealership, and a sales person within that dealership that you want to work with, that you feel will work for you and enjoy the level of service as opposed to trying to save $100 which will cause you more pain than pleasure. FYI, I asked around my area, and no one was willing to sell below MSRP. It's a brand new model, sold out across the continent, good luck negotiating. |

To be honest, I didn't really fight hard to reduce the price on mine. When I bought mine there was a 2 month wait list at every dealer within 200kms. Given simple economics of supply and demand this pretty much means they should be increasing the price above MSRP instead of reducing it.
Also, I think my salesperson pulled some strings cause I ended up getting mine in 3 days instead of 2 months. But if you can talk them down then good for you. |

I paid MSRP, minus globali fee and a 200 dollar discount, but the 200 dollar discount WOULD HAVE BEEN 4 free oilchanges in addition to the regular checkup maintenance, so as far as the dealership is concerned they already commited on that. so while my "net discount" was roughly 600 bucks it's not a real discount if we're talking strict semantics.

You already got a good trade-in value for your car. Consider yourself lucky already on that aspect alone. Good luck finding another dealership that will give you a good trade-in value AND discount the car below MSRP.

It'll be hard work to find a discounted BR-Z and it should be a lot more difficult to find a discounted FR-S. Scion dealers are obligated to sell AT their 'pure price.' All Scions are no-haggle pricing.
The only real negotiating room you have is with the trade. Since you got more than expected, let's hope it was $700 more. Consider that your discount and buy the car. They're really in no desperate position to sell to you. Someone will buy that car at full price - most likely within the next 3 days. -Justin

I still owe 17 thou on my trade which leaves 6 thou tacked onto the price. I was hoping -sounds more like dreaming lol of $700 off mrsp and I'd put down $1300 cash bring my difference to 4thou which sounds a bit better. |

You're trading in a car you're upside-down on to intentionally go even further in the red on another car?
Seriously, at that point why does $700 make any difference? -Justin

theres noway ull get money off msrp.....lk they will give u stuff...like mayb free window tint or stuff lk those...but they are never gonna reduce the msrp. yes ur right about the 6% markup but then again part of the 6% goes to the dealer....$700 discount is bascially asking the sales guy to give u money LOL

No, not greedy, just ridiculously unrealistic. Also you're making some really bad financial decisions here, so, yeah, screw the $700. At this point you may as well OVERPAY for the car, it makes about as much sense as what you are doing. |

You're expecting $700 off MRSP? That's half the mark-up on the car(look it up)! Good luck! Getting that on a car a dealer is trying to clear out, almost never an issue. On a car that has more demand than supply? You can't be serious? Or that ignorant, can you? You're damn lucky they're not asking for more than MRSP like most US dealers are charging.
