you wont see $5k garrett kits in AUS, the turbos are just too dear by the time you buy the low PSI actuators and get special comp covers etc to make them all fit,

![]() ... sorry dude, seems my comments got under your skin.. like i said in my post, staggering numbers and if you backtrack abit in this thread you'll see i've been following it for quite a while and up until this post i didnt even know you were on the forums. now that i've looked abit further it seems there was a post in the yank sections too that i missed with more info. having read that thread i also see i'm not the only one with comments around the price. At the end of the day that was just my opinion which is the point of forum communities in being able to express ones' opinion... nor did i make any comparisons to other packages/companies. But from what i've read the 10K excludes (which as i said, purely in my opinion is why i feel it is expensive) ECU Upgrade - retune of stock ECU instead Any exhaust or headers E85 variant - is only for the 98 tune as further work is needed for E85? Engineering costs to ensure the mod is legal. Once those are all added into the equation the numbers stack up to likely be well over the 15K mark.. I get that you guys are offering quality product, but this is still in relatively untested territory and unless ive missed something you guys arent offering any guarantees about the stock blocks' longevity. So what good is lashing out 10K on top quality parts if the engine goes bang not too far down the track? Personally i would have hoped rather than come in here (to the Australian specific section, where your customer's are) and fire up about people not calling your shop, you would provide us with info about the benefits of the kit and more details... I've had previous cars worked on by you guys as well as plenty of friends as I'm a hills local, and will likely look at getting you guys to sort me out with an exhaust system because i like the quality of your work and value for money over "JDM name brands" so please dont take it as im throwing rocks at your work, massive props for being one of the very first out there with a drive in/out turbo solution for the 86 and the numbers you guys got were staggering. |

The drive in drive out price includes your choice of engine management, ie remap or sprint 500 Haltech,
E85 can be done for no extra cost if you want a pure eflex tune, the map switching or flex fuel sensor will incur a extra cost mostly due to the cost of the parts to do it a simple upgrade is a sport 1000 and a dual map switch, one tune for 98 and one for eflex, Unfortunately I cannot spend all day answering questions on here when 90% of them can be answered with a 5 min phone call to the shop, |

They're not obliged to offer you a guarantee, you said it yourself; they are offering a quality product in relatively untested territory. Nobody is sure what the limit of the car is, and what is going to be reliable. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but it isn't their job to hold your hand through this process. You buy the product, you take the risk, simple. There are heaps of us waiting to see how the engine responds to FI, nobody wants to fuck up a brand new car 6 months down the track ![]() I think the 10k price includes the tune and the E85/standalone ECU though I'm not sure. As for the engineering costs, I've got no idea. Its usually not too bad if everything is done legit and its not a backyard job. |

I am sorry but $10,000 for a complete kit for this car is just pure insanity, and anyone that sits here to tell me different can take it in the ass.
Is it a new platform (engine)? Absolutely. But folks are talking like nobody has ever made a god damn turbo kit in their lives, and they have spent the better part of the last 10 years perfecting the art of the FA20 turbo. I tell you what, you give me a layout of each individual piece that is included in the kit, right down to the type of metals or other materials used. I will take the time out of my day to show you that the kit, while made of "high-grade" materials, is worth no more than $3500. (this is a rough estimate based on the above list) And that is at retail pricing. I am not trying to get under anyone's skin, but I am just tired of folks blabbering on about how you will just have to pay for it because it's a new setup, or it's made with quality parts, which I don't doubt that it is. If you want transparency, just ask for it, and if the creator refuses or blows a gasket, there is a good chance there is a reason for it. I great appreciate all the work that companies around the world are putting into this new platform, and I am just as excited as the next guy, but any business that can't say that they are trying to cash in on it is looney, lying, or both. |

Buy my kit? I don't plan on manufacture a kit at all, and I don't think I implied that either. I am asking for transparency in the pricing, and to provide reasoning as to why this kit, or any of the others, are $10,000+ when we all know that from a manufacturing and materials standpoint it's not worth that.

I did a quick count based on the photo/list provided and came up with a Material/Parts cost of $4950 not including the haltech or adapter loom. Now take the ~$80/hr of labour and however many hours it takes to produce the kit, plus the labour required to install it and a couple of grand for the haltech/plugin adapter and I can easily see a $10K drive-in/drive-out cost. Go ahead and post up your list... Some sites you can get reference costs from are: http://www.sonicperformance.com.au/ http://mscn.com.au/Scripts/prodList.asp http://www.gcg.com.au/ http://www.haltech.com/store/default |
