I was always disappointed with the Corolla S. They should have them competing with the Civic Si.

I believe this is in response to Kia & Hyundai turbocharging nearly every car they have in their line-ups.

With the CAFE initiative, I am highly doubtful that Toyota's focus will be high performance turbocharging. Like Ford and Hyundai, they will likely focus on fuel economy and weight reduction using smaller displacement motors to lower the average fuel consumption of their North American lineup. I'm sure they aren't attempting an 80's throwback.

If they did offer a Turbo FR-S, I bet it will be a really upscale package with a significant price premium. After all, if it is a gas guzzler they will need to sell it in low volume to not raise the overall fuel consumption of the lineup to move into the next increment of CAFE regulation.

It makes more sense to offer factory authorized bolt on solutions that fly under the radar.

Yes. Toyota sells all their cars in the US and CAFE completely determines the direction in which their R&D department moves.

The government has been working on a turbo prius for years now! When i worked at the Toyota in Irvine the government would bring in a turbo prius (very small turbo) that was natural gas.

I feel as though Toyota's recent decisions deserve two words, "Welcome Back."

Yeah okay, I also heard it's going to give it a 180hp gain with 3 psi

If they are doing that (which I highly doubt), its going to be as a dealer add-on accessory rather than a factory option. EVEN IF, it wont be a turbo, but a supercharger

I guess we have to wait and see. And what your told compared to what I'm told is completely different because my source is reliable. But like iv told people ill believe it when iv seen it. I'm sure it will be a bolt on due to the cost. Toyota will have to pay the government more to build a high horsepower car.
