Would give a huge truck area and lighten the car a bit. Plus would still get the insurance benefits of a 2+2
what do you mean carbon fiber delete? thats nonsense just take them out

I believe he means something to cover up the uncarpeted, weirdly shaped sheet metal that would otherwise be hidden by the rear seat.

^ so might as well just delete it and save weight, right? Function over form.
Tiny rear seats are fine for children or a 3rd adult on short trips, which is primarily how I'd use this car. Rip out the rear seats, and I'm no longer interested as I'd rather stick with my MX5 (smaller, lighter, shorter wheelbase... function over form).

2+2 from the factory.

2+0 aftermarket rear-seat delete kit.

That and new finished panels for where the seats and belts were so it doesn't look like a ratty Civic with the rear seats torn out by a pimply 16 year old. If you had read 5 posts up you would have already read old greg's post and known that.

I want to see a 2+2 as well. I just want it to be functional; i.e. you can actually fit 2 adults in the back for a short trip. Not for a cross-country road trip or in the same style as a BMW 745iL. I'm not that naive to expect that. But if they are going to provide a 2+2 might as well make it functional. The GC rear seat did not feel comfortable to me height wise. My head was up against the ceiling to do the slope of the roof.

If Toyota made it with the RX-8 style for the rear as it is functional. But maybe that is too much to expect.

It is hard to find a good picture of the horrible head room in the GC, you just really need to sit in the back and try it out.

I agree I love the suicide door design, I would hope for this in more sports cars. Easier ingress/outgress plus smaller doors = less worrying about dings and squishing in/out with half open doors as I do in my 3000GT and its humgo doors. I'm pretty temped to get Lambo doors just cuz the doors swing so wide in semi tight parking spots. Plus it looks fancy.

I do remember a 4-door rumor to be possible with this platform tho.

Still top of my wishlist is a 2GR-FE 270hp V6, or better supercharged 350hp 2GR-FZE...

^ I don't want suicide doors on the FT-86 as that will add weight most likely. I think 2 doors is fine, however I just would like the roofline to not stop sloping until after the back passenger's head. Just makes life easier and more comfortable.

This car having 2 "functional" seats can be compared to the discussion of those wanting this car to have 300 HP.

That's not what this car is about. Look at the dimensions. If they try to please everyone and make the back seats "functional" they will have to make the car bigger, and that means more weight and poor performance.

Get over it already. After all, how often are you going to be in your own back seat? I don't know why you are fighting for this so much.

Why are you getting so excited? It is ok, take a deep breathe in. Ok now out. One more time?

The original 86 had some decently functional seats from what I remember. They had decent head room in the back. Not sure why you think that would be such a hard thing for Toyota to do. If you read my posts I said I'm not expecting leg room like a 7 series BMW. No one would expect that. I just want better head room compared to the GC.

So why don't you tell me what this car is about? I can start picking away at your definition.

From wht I've seen the FT isn't that much bigger than my Miata and I have a real hard time picturing a 2+2 Miata !!!!!!!!! (And some of you want decent headroom for the rear seat?)

Yep it all depends on how the Toyota designers do the roof and how much it slopes and where it does it.

Just completely depends what Toyota does on the production version with the roofline. Not that hard to figure out. Significantly slope it before the rear headrest and there is limited head room. Significantly slope it after the rear headrest and you get more headroom.
