If there was ever anything that might tempt me to install Bootcamp on my Mac then this right here could be it.

You guys are mostly running 93 on this tune, right?

WHAT?!?!?! theres no time to eat!, theres tunes to be done and updates to the stage 1 tunes, we need to make 300whp off a tune alone BAHAHAHAAHA!

Na, good work on the tuning stuff dude, I dont see anyone else even making headroom on a tuner, let alone dedicating all his time to getting his customers taken care of.

I gotta tell you guys I've been driving around with Johns tune since day 1 and through every revision and it just keeps getting better. I know first hand how much time hes put into the development of this platform and I have no problem recommending his tune for my customers. My car now with the e85 feels like a monster and we still have more hardware to throw on it. Anyone in the Tristate whos looking at getting a tune and wants to experience it first hand come by the shop I can happily drop what I'm doing and give you a ride...I'm that confident you will not be disappointed.

Hi John. So I noticed some mentions of this in Don's turbo thread that the stock exhaust is fine up to 300hp. I am budgeting for upgrades and looking for your opinion from what you've been seeing with tunes thus far. Are most intakes / headers / exhausts tricking the ecu into creating more power, to where your tune will give the same gains without them by optimizing the tune directly? That is, like your header test, are we likely to see gains from intakes, exhaust etc disappear once we have your tune in place? I've noticed too that intakes showing gains tend to be tricking the ecu into running slightly more lean. Is it breathing fine already for what we're doing here? Not sure how much additional testing you've done with this but don't want to spend the $ on certain upgrades if there will likely be minimal further gains on top of your tune. If so I'll keep tucking away for FI. Hope that makes sense, on my phone and hard to read what I've typed.

@DSTL, I asked him the same thing Friday on the phone. The answer is that the mods will provide the same HP increase as they did over stock, no more no less. No need to alter tune for it.

I suggest starting off with the flash and drop-in filter first.

The exhaust gains aren't proven just yet and I haven't had the chance to test any out.

Don's Car showed 0 gain with his exhaust on 6 PSI.

That doens't mean his exhaust isn't good, just the stock exhaust isn't bad.

I guess what I'm asking is if I upgrade my intake and exhaust is it like drinking through a 1" wide straw (overkill) and it breathes fine already for the tune. Are the gains we're seeing pre-tune for intake / exhaust going to get absorbed into the gains from the tune instead of being in addition to it? Don't want to spend $1500 and get minimal gains over the tune if I can save it for FI.

EDIT:

Sitting in front of a computer instead of on my phone now. Just to be clear, what I am wondering is if it could play out to this scenario (hypothetical numbers of course):
1. Added exhaust and intake and gained 13whp total
2. Flashed John's tune on otherwise stock (no exhaust or intake) and gained 14whp total
3. Flashed John's tune and added same exhaust and intake as #1 and gained 15whp total

I would opt for #2 and save my money for other things since my budget is relatively tight and I'm not too worried about the sound right now. I'm just curious if some of the intake/exhaust mods showing gains are due to the ECU adjusting to them (or getting false MAF readings due to intake design) and altering the AFR etc, so John's tune could absorb some or most of their gains similar to what happened in his header test. Just curious at this point how everything is going to add up.
