In this link

You can see all parts picture, the BOV outlet point is clearly visible on the pressure side pipe

The number of times people commented on my supra video (below) claiming that 'your turbo will be fkd in 1000 miles'... yet I ran no BOV for years, put over tens of thousands of KMs on the setup (probably 30,000 til I sold the car), pushing 510rwhp, with no ill effects... Why? Cos I liked the sound. Everyone's a mechanic on the internetz, but I can assure you I had no problems. Also I never noticed a difference between bov/no bov throttle response.

Personally I dont want a bov on my turbo kit for my 86 cos I like the flutterz

The owners (mz21) thread is here in regional forums.

We can have vented BOV. Mine does!

The car has a BOV. The fluttering sound is compressor surge.

Wow, um, the MAF is by the throttle body. Why would you need to recirculate the BOV? It's a blow-thru MAF. Not pull through.

I've used garrett turbos without BOVs before and also seen no ill effects other than boost response during shifting. I'm not a mechanic, I'm an automotive engineer. I can assure you though, the OEMs don't spend money frivolously. The BOV serves an important purpose, maintaining compressor speed stability.

It's cool if you like the sound or whatever, but to an engineer it is going to look juvenile. Now, this setup has a BOV. It just sounds like it isn't working properly.

On an automatic, you don't need a BOV as much because you don't lift the throttle when shifting. But it's still recommended.

Get it tuned for flat for shifting and it'll cut back on the competitor surge haha

By law in australia you can not have a BOV vent to atmo, is what he meant.

Wow, um, the 'we' means Australians, not 86 owners.
