It used to be Duane and Nate that had the biggest numbers in the Pacific Northwest for 7M's. I can't remember the exact numbers but Duane was around 813 (?) all turbo, and Nate's was 830-850 (???) on spray. That was like 4-5 years ago. As far as I know Nate has gone JZ, and now Duane is the PACNW hp king (of the 7Ms). Car make 920 whp all turbo (race gas) and 710 all turbo (94 pump gas and meth injection).

That idea was floating round my head for the FT. Only problem is it wouldnt have the D-4S So far as I know, No one has turboed a 3.6 yet. ( one place attemped to build one but ran into troubles, because it turned out to be a prototype motor and was quite different to production EZ36) I would rather destroke the 3.6 to a 3.3L I have heard a owner say that the 3.6 runs a bit ruffer at higher revs... Also is Fitted with the tiny pre bent conrods? Allows to increase from 3L to 3.6L I dont know how much those pre bent rods effect preformance improvements like turbo etc? Any one know? I wonder if subaru is going to do a newer big 6? I had heard that even the 3.6 is still under powered in the Tribeca I would love to see a 4L 6 or even a flat 8 well dreams are free.

You can get close to that. EZ36 blocks with an EZ30 crank comes out at ~3.2 from what I've been told.
Quote:
3.6 is the absolute limit for the EZ. Any more stroke would cause interference problems with the crankcase, and that's with the asymmetrical conrods. And there's no more room for increasing the bore. Future flat sixes might have higher bore pitches, but don't expect to see any more stroke, as Subaru is fairly limited in terms of deck height. The motor has to sit between the frame rails. If they made a flat 8 I would swap it into everything I owned, even though it would mean a ~200lbs weight gain. The sounds that thing would make would be totally worth ruining my handling. |

The oil pump gear drive is in a different place on the EZ36. Also I thought that almost all the parts on the EZ30/30R/36 are completely different. As in nothing bolts up from either 3? Do you have a link for the 3.2? I would love to find out more |

I don't recall ever seeing it done, I think I just saw a post on Nasioc by someone that did a little math. I was unaware of the difference in oil pump drive, but hell, you could always just dry sump it. And if you did, some rods/bolts, bearings and valve springs would set you up for some serious revs.

If you wanna turbo the EZ series, I would use EZ30 and don't bore it out. Get lower comp ratio and mid size turbo to help boost from 3k or 4k rpm. EZ30 can make 280bhp to 1200bhp. There's a ton of aftermarket for it, while EZ36... well, just say almost all the aftermarket shop isn't stupid enough to make parts for em. ![]() EZ36 turbo is just Forza dream. Most people isn't stupid to turbo a ticking bomb. H8 and so on have been done... just it put so much pressure on the crank that, it's not even worth it. |

The new FB20 in the 2012 Impreza now has the oil filter on the top of the engine. Wonder if the FT86 FB20 variant will use that same design. Should make oil changes a bit easier and quicker.

and slightly more messy, as that filter is sure to dump it's contents all over the block as soon as that seal is broken.
Edit, never mind. Found a pic and it looks like they planned for that with some sort of spill catch cup around the filter.

Nice find on that pic! I have never owned a car with the oil filter up above, but I only assumed it would be easier and quicker. If Subaru did indeed design a catch cup around the filter as that pic shows, that would be great and hopefully solve that potential problem.
