I'm still pissed about the 1NR-FE being a Europe only thing (scion iq has no M/T). The 1.33 displacement sucks admittedly (I think 1.5 is about right because I want to do the whole Miller cycle thing), but it is light years ahead of any other economy Toyota engine aside from the 1ZR-FAE (which is never going to arrive in America, those cheapasses. At any rate the Valvematic system probably isn't happy with 8500rpm), with cooled EGR, built in start stop (I am very sure this can be rigged to give moar powah somehow), ports come from the factory optimized for flow, service weight 10kg below the 1ZZ dry weight (the 1ZR engine is not any lighter than the 1ZZ I tink), 11.5! compression ratio, and some kind of fancy coating on the pistons. Most importantly though, is that they come with 6 speed manual transmissions. Dunno how much that engine can be bored out but 3mm gets it up to 1.445L which can be efficiently boosted up to maybe 200Nm torque, if it doesn't blow up. |

I've been thinking about cast head blanks, but done on the computer. Use 3d printing to make patterns and molds for plugs. Get them sand-cast and then finish machine them manually.

As far as my crazy mad scientist ideas go, the custom pieces that will need to be made will be a new intake manifold with intercooler (I want to try to make an air to water myself...radiator/pump is not hard to find) that mates to the supercharger, custom cams (can probably take Stage 1 aftermarket cams and install it retarded a few teeth to get rid of the extra overlap, but not sure if the duration will be what I want), engine mounts, bypass valve control, gear selector stuff, and I think that's it. Okay the ECU maps need to be radically altered, which might be difficult to accomplish, and it would be nice if the gauges and stuff actually functioned. Actually pulling a 1NZ would make things super easy because I could use Prius cams/pistons (junker Prii are pretty common I think?), but getting a 6 speed transmission is hard, and if the engine is going to get so much attention it needs a proper gearbox to match. I do want to do the hybrid thing down the road so the NR makes that easier with the start stop feature. Also the NR's shorter stroke is more rev friendly in theory. Not to mention the NR has combustion chamber and friction reduction enhancements. EDIT: oh I forgot, alcohol injection system...easier adding fuel separately while it's in open loop than trying to tell the ECU how to deal with boost. w00t! My pc is up (for the third time!) lol. I think my Windows install may have been corrupted, I took everything apart again, cleaned out the case and stuff, and installed Ubuntu linux and now it seems to be stable (and quick!). I still want to build a new one though :|

My new favorite quote!
"The 86 is something different altogether. There's an effervescence about the way it approaches life. That gives it something rather more than a great motor or exciting handling. It's a car that by force of character improves every journey and not by outright speed, but by FUN. And it's made by the people that give us the Prius! Sometimes we have to remind ourselves just how awesome the motor industry is, and the GT86 is a car that does just that." -Chris Harris. //drive.

I went to go visit my cousin & aunt up in Sacramento to help them buy a car and to pick up a few things. And there they had a FIRESTORM FR-S and OMG I wanted to buy that thing on the spot. But a trigger in my head said just wait for your LR BRZ. You won't be as happy as you'll be when you get yourself the BRZ-L.
Fuhhh if only my complex could house 2 personal cars for free. I'd mod the hell out of the FRS and keep the BRZ stock but that wouldn't have made logical sense in my mind. Thank god I side more on my logical side then my emotional side.

Fuck parking man, in Berkeley apartment complexes with parking usually charge 50 or 75 a month for 1 car spot. I am like 90% sure I will pull the trigger on that car (unless it explodes when I test drive), but it'll have to stay parked home where I can't use it until I can get a parking spot. Since my apartment complex has no parking, I'm looking on Craigslist and everything within reasonable distance is like 75 dollars a month or higher :/
