Darn, swapping gears in transmissions is too hard.
If I really buy a Spyder I might try a ghetto DIY cooled EGR pipe with a rudimentary on/off valve, the rpm that thing spins on the highway is just nuts. Actually, that requires drilling into the manifold and that seems like a pain in the ass to fix if it goes wrong. I guess I just have to learn to pulse and glide like a boss. Maybe when the engine gets older... Last edited by serialk11r; 08-15-2012 at 06:27 AM. |

Sitting outside Game On by Fenway listening to Bruce Springsteen last night I saw a Whiteout FR-S with a Brookline somethingorother delivery sign on top.
So, who's the FR-S delivery boy? Was he delivering tofu to Fenway?!? /sarcasm Then, not 10 minutes later, a white BRZ Limited turns the same corner. (First one I've seen in the wild) And, just before I went to bed, the FR-S commercial came on tv. ...It must be a sign. |

and while it's not simple, I am thinking of acquiring an '07 Z06 for the ShadoStable. But it's definitely a car which requires focus. That much power is dangerous in that light of a car. Then again, car enthusiasts are the odd ones out. Most people enjoy being removed from the driving experience and numbed to the road. We're the exception, because we actually enjoy driving. |

Yeah, that's for sure. CC is nice to have... but at the same time, driver will have less focus on the road.

I'm ok with electronic aides, as long as I can turn them on/off at will.
CC can be nice on an 8hr-plus drive. Traction Control can be great in wet weather. ABS is great just about everywhere (only thing I don't feel the need to ever turn off, but others differ). Air Conditioning is nice in the heat, but also unnecessary. Audio equipment, also distracting and unnecessary, but it can actually keep you awake on long drives, alert you to changing traffic patterns, etc... |

CC - You're going to let go the gas/brake pedal which = away from pedals. When something happens, right feet takes longer time to react. TC - When TC is fully working, it's great... but how driver learn delicate foot work of acceleration? Or learn when certain side of tires are loosing traction or react when TC fully loose control? ABS - Todo have said "You can't figure out how to properly use the ABS until you've mastered braking without it." ![]() AC - This point isn't really w driving, but AC in general, it's not good for your health. AC will lower Metabolism and cooling your body to certain level isn't good for your heart. But if you wanna keep it in driving, when you hit certain temperature human tend to become sleepy. Audio equipment - Awake us on long drive. How long of drive? & let's face it, we rarely do long drive... long drive I'm talking bout is over 10hrs. Averagely we only do 1~2hrs drive a day. Within that, Audio is more distraction than keeping us wake. Music can make our emotion up & down. With up beat, we tend to drive faster than we should be. Again, I'm totally agree with you on all your points. I'm just going against you so think bout something we rarely/never do. That's all

CC - Yeah, but if you're doing a really long trip and your feet start to hurt, it's nice to be able to rest the feet without having to pull over and lose time. TC & ABS - You raise a very good point, but if I'm just driving to/from work in heavy rain, I have enough to concentrate on already. AC - Agree! Audio - Again, long drives of 12 hours or more can make you sleepy, or just driving home really late or after a long day. When I used to work Graveyard Shift, my boss gave me three tips for staying awake in the car

CC - If your feet/leg gets tired when you're driving long time means, you're not sitting correctly. Your back is angled in wrong way resulting nerves to be pinched. If you sit properly, your feet/leg won't get tired before rest of the body. TC/ABS - Good point on the rain &/or other weather condition... but that's only used against it when you're not used to it. If you live without it, you can do without it. Example to that is MT tranny. MT tranny has more stuff gotta do while driving than AT tranny, but it became a habit, it's natural for the driver to shift without thinking. No TC/ABS is same thing. Look at AE86, it doesn't have any of those (plus PS) and owners are still driving in heavy rain or even in snow storm. How? Cuz it's they're used to it. It become natural reaction when & what to do they loose traction or require heavy braking. Audio - Sleepy thing has a point, but let's face it, we do not listen to the audio as much as we think we do. Near 60% trance mode when we're driving. Most of the time, unconsciously we driver use music as a point to point timer for our brain to come out of trance. |

![]() Good point on TC/ABS. And I am definitely a manual driver Hadn't thought about audio like that. And in fact audio can be a detriment to safe driving if some fool is more focused on singing along than the task of driving. |
