So who is going to be dropping their front bumper to remove the stock intake snorkel from behind it?

The flowbench testing showed a ~20% improvement in CFM without the snorkel.

Quote:
To get the most airflow I recommend removing the factory inlet to let the box breathe from the space behind the bumper. It is possible to unbolt the top edge of the bumper and sneak the inlet out very carefully. We designed in a nice smooth velocity stack where it mates to the inlet which netted a couple more hp. By adding the velocity stack and removing the factory inlet, the CFM increased by 20% on the flowbench. I also stuck my hand in through the opening where the airbox breathes from and it is noticably cooler inside the bumper, so we know it is a great source for fresh, cool air.

When you do, can you please post a DIY on it? I'd like to do it too, if it isn't too big of a job and you can do it yourself with a few tools.

Hey guys, I apologize for not being on the forum for a few days. I just got back from Bonneville and am working on getting these kits built so we can start shipping.

When you go to remove the stock snorkel, just pull all the bolts on the top edge of the bumper and with the help of a friend you will be able to sneak the part out through the top. There are a ton of fasteners on the bumper and you can save some time and frustration doing it this way. Of course proceed at your own risk.

We are having a meeting on the lid engraving today, I hope to report back with good news!

Thanks Keith! I hope they approve it. It would be nice to have a little something special for the first buyers. If we can be of any help let us know!

I want to start off by saying thank you to all of you have followed along in the development of Airaid's new intake system and a special thanks to those of you who have placed pre-orders with us.

Keith & the team at Airaid have created what is sure to be one of the most popular and highest performing intakes on the market. Unfortunately we were unable to agree on an engraving for the first 86 buyers - but we still want to include something special for you all. We plan to start shipping the first few orders on Monday. When you receive your intake, look in the box for a little gift from Airaid.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sweet, I'm order number 5!

On a side note, what are the chances they would be willing to let me buy a blank anodized plate... I know plenty of places to do an engraving....

I think its the dyno with the production part instead of the prototype part. I have ordered one but will still be keen to see pics of the actual part installed and dynoed.
