i have nothing against BRZ owners, but when folks come to our forum and make backhanded remarks (as detailed above) - seems to me like its a pretty sad attempt at stirring up pointless drama. ya dig? |

If you're a safe driver you'll pay what you're going to pay for your area. Nothing more nothing less. I pay something around $50/mo for full coverage on my BRZ. Last edited by DantKR; 08-16-2012 at 09:51 AM. |

I'm not sure how insurance rates are determined when taking accident statistics into account, but it would make sense to me that the insurance companies would look at the number of accidents as a percent of the whole,
e.g., if 5/100 FR-S's crashed, vs, 1/20 BRZ's crashed (just an example), both models have a 5% crash rate, even though there are more FR-S's crashed. To expound on my point: The Toyota Camry has astronomical crash rates compared to our FT86's, but that's because there are so many out there. Insurance rates remain low because the ratio of accidents to total number of Camrys is so low. To me, it seems like our two babies are crashing at rates proportional to their totals. |

Have any BRZ crashes been reported yet? I've only seen FR-S's so far. I'm sure it's bound to happen. I feel like the FR-S's twitchier suspension is going to lead to a few more crashes than it's more neutral cousin.

Yikes... what in the heck are these people doing... in my experience you'd have to be trying pretty hard to smash these cars up.. I don't honestly understand how people are losing control of this car, unless it's just plain stupidity or the other vehicles fault. It corrects so easily, and takes a lot to upset the chassis - honestly this baffles me.

Moral of the story: Traction and Stability control are your friend, keep them engaged on public roads and help everyone else maintain their insurance premiums. I'm actually pretty excited to see how insurance premiums change once the insurance companies know more about these cars.
PS As a BRZ owner, I do personally look down upon every FRS I come across. Makes me feel good knowing I can spend $3k more for the same car, because I'm just that rich. /sarcasm |
