Shops from different areas will have various labor rates. The price of a complete paint correction and opti-coat/guard application will differ depending on the amount of correction needed before applying the coating. The paint should be as near perfect within a resonable expectation before opti-coat. Any imperfections will be sealed in by the coating and detract from the desired look. Prices given out without seeing the car first are ballpark at best. Someone may think their car looks ok but in reality a detailer will see items that will require hrs of work.I think you find that many are paying in the 200-300 range for minor correction and opti-coat. Some will comment thats crazy while others will say that's a bargin. All depends on what the local market wiil bear and the skill and reputation of the installer IMO.
From the detailers posting on this forum that I have any knowledge about, I doubt any of these guys are ripping off anyone. The detailing community is pretty good at putting a spotlight on and calling out any hacks. Trust me the word travels FAST.
