Spoke with sales at Modesto Toyota/Scion this morning. Two coming in this week, one Whiteout, AT, spoken for, and an Asphalt MT, seems available. Want to poke head in with helmet to see if me fits. No stealership markup, I asked expressly that, and they said they don't do that.

Fingers crossed on the Hot Lava MT somewhere...

Sat in the Asphalt one (pre-PDI) today to verify headroom, trunk, etc... Looks great! It was pretty much next to get washed, so I couldn't get a real good look at the lines.

I asked about taking possession of a car before PDI and weather the current car could be taken for a test ride. Those questions seemed to throw them for a loop, but I 'esplained myself and they thought that may be okay.

I will check it out once its prepped to see how many scratches ended up in the dark finish. Hopefully get to take a spin.

I was able to check out 2 BRZ (1 premium auto GBS, 1 limited 6MT Silver) at Putnam Subaru in Burlingame. Very nice, i'd take the silver one in a heartbeat if i was financially able.

Across the street I saw a red FRS at Putnam Scion/Toyota.

were there markups or forced addons on these cars you saw? otherwise I would imagine they would have been snapped up quickly...

The Silver BRZ had the diffuser, but i think that was it. I don't recall any options for the GBS.

My name is Jason Bean, I'm an Internet Manager here at Putnam Subaru in Burlingame. I've received your inquiry on a New 2013 Subaru BRZ and I'd be happy to help you. It is still here at the moment. We have two. I believe these are the only two currently available in Northern California. We are adjusting the price to reflect current market value just like all other dealers. Extremely limited supply and very high demand. The two that we've had prior both sold very fast for well over MSRP. If you're interested in purchasing one of these vehicles I'd be happy to go over the details and schedule an appointment with you to come in and take a look. Please feel free to send me an email or give me a call if you have or need any other information regarding this purchase. I look forward to hearing from you. I appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. Thanks in advance.

e-mail 2:
Hi there, to be honest, I don't want to give you sticker shock. The dealer asking price including the market adjustment is WELL over that.
You have one on order though, that's great. You're one of the lucky ones that got to place an order. Enjoy the vehicle when it arrives.

Yup, sounds like markup way over MSRP. I said I'd be willing to pay 1K over MSRP just to get the car a couple of weeks early and apparently that isn't close to what they are looking for.

The Modesto Toyota/Scion Interweb Manager said no markups, just MSRP. "We don't do that here, but we have heard others do."

Went to dublin toyota yesterday just too see if they had any to look at/ sit in.

I figured theyd have a mark up there, but didnt expect them to say $3000 mark up. Ridiculous.

If your in the market for a FR-S keep looking around, i know there are dealers that sell them at msrp.

Argento AT available at Hanford Toyota/Scion at MSRP, if anyone's interested. Just bought my Asphalt 6MT there, it was a great experience.

I will not pay over MSRP. Getting it $x over to enjoy it "y" weeks sooner can be equal to $z per week, or even $?? per day...or $?? per mile. Not to mention this is a car, the moment it drive off the dealer's lot is an immediate depreciation. Immediate loss even more $ if pay the dealer mark up.

I just turned down a WRB BRZ from Broadway Subaru in Oakland. Will probably be going to the next person in line, but there's just no way I could justify that markup.
