BRZ vs Audi TT

BRZ FTW! I got so many thumbs up just driving home from work today. Got crotch rocket riders riding around me on the freeway as if they were my body guard. lol.

You'll love the frs/brz, especially for the price. I still find random reasons to go out... like all of a sudden I realized we don't have krazy glue in the house so i have to drive the car now haha... I always felt that audi's were overpriced for their performance/specs but to me, they are the best looking cars on the street. THat's the only reason I would even getting an audi - purely for aesthetic purposes.

Think will go with the TT... for the wife! I won't consider cars without manuals, and RS is way out of budget. Had a BRZ on order, test drove one couple of weeks ago. Loved the light, immediate and pure feel, but I wanted more of it, more feedback, more noise, more vibration, more clutch, brake, and steering feel. It felt soft and slow. Not enough to get me out of current speed3 anyway. 'STI'ified version of this car will be exactly what I'm looking for. With the success of the twins, I believe they will build it.

sounds like you need one of these,

solid rear axle, it's a Russian HachiRoku with 4 doors,

i guarantee you it will not disappoint (first hand experience)

I like it, had it for 3 years now, still enjoy driving it, which I can't say for all previous cars I had. Visceral feedback is what MS3 has and what I like most about it overall. Shifter is imprecise, that's where BRZ is superior.

Great choice.... My grandfather had a 21011 and then upgraded to a 2106.... Very nice simple, light cars (about 1000 kg)... rwd...cheap car...cheap parts...reliable, will start when its 30 below outside

We sold the 2106 when buying a new flat in Moscow ....

My uncle got to keep the 21011... when I was 12 (And the car was over 20)I headed back to his village, the car was the biggest highlight of my summer...it still ran... still drove fine at 130 kph (we didnt try anything over)... and we could still let the rear out on dirt roads (almost all the roads in the village) with that small 1.3 engine completely stock... yes there was wear and tear on the seats/interior and dents... but it served my uncle well (hauled his family of 5, which included his wife and her chubby a** sister, hauled his potatoes, hauled a** for his 20 year old son) up to the day he sold it for 400 bucks (couple of years ago)...
Still sad about it.

I love the TT; lightweight (just over 3,000lbs), balanced, AWD, quick (211hp, 258lb/ft), and very refined. My only gripes are that the style is slightly aged (the design is over 6 years old) and the lack of a manual transmission in anything other than the super-rare RS model. The S-Tronic (DSG) trans is fun but it doesn't replace a true manual. I'm not sure what year they dropped the stick, but it's available in some older 2nd gen TT's and of course the 1st gen.

When Audi dropped the stick for the TT, they really lost a lot of from me. Whatever advantage the TT has in lap times or performance, the BRZ makes up for in enjoyment. An absolutely wonderful Aisin 6-speed manual, über-low COG, balanced weight distribution, FR drivetrain, and the Boxer engine. These are all traits that should be found in a car far more expensive than the BRZ.

My vote goes to the BRZ. As much as I love the TT, having a stick only in the highest trim level is absurd. What Tetsuya-san said about cars becoming too performance-focused and not driver-focused is true; it's blatantly obvious because there's only FIVE cars that I can think of that are truly driver-focused now. The Miata, the Toyobaru, Cayman, 911 and Boxster, and maybe a few others. All the other current sports cars... Let's take a look now, shall we?


TT: No manual, pass. But great road feel and performance.

TTRS: Manual? This is a TT I like, but it's a lot of $$$ for a TT. Pass.

Genesis Coupe: Great performance, but shifter is not that precise and road feel isn't there. Pass.

GT-R: No manual, AWD, no thanks. Pass.

Aventador: No manual, and too easy to drive for a Lambo. Pass.

LFA: No manual, but let's take a look at this one: AMAZING road feel, thrilling, and the engine sound is intoxicating. I'd love an LFA, but the price is far too prohibitive until you start getting to the top 1%. Pass.

R8: Comes in manual. AWD, but extremely grippy and VERY fun to drive. Price is high, but it's so worth it. Win.

Ferraris: None come with a manual. Pass.

IS-F: RWD V8, but no manual. Pass.

GT500: Can't turn, just straight line power. Shifter is knobby. Pass.

Corvette: LEAF SPRINGS. Pass.

New NSX (old is not applicable): Hybrid? Are you kidding me? Pass.

Miata: OHMYGODYES. Excellent road feel, amazing shifter and clutch engagement and quick and zippy around the corners. Win.

Cayman: Amazing road feel, great mid-engine design, and great power. Win.

Boxster: See above.

911: See above.

BRZ/FR-S. We all know this. Win.

370Z: Good handling and road feel, very direct, although not as much so as the BRZ, and HEAVY. Very slight win.


So, ladies and gentlemen, what did we learn today? Seven. Seven cars. We need more. LOBBY THE MANUFACTURERS!
