The paint quality is shit, my car should have been called Orange Peel versus Hot Lava, The dealer has the attitude that all the Toyota cars on their lot have the same flutter texture and that Toyota has never been know for quality paint.

The thing I hate is that I don't have one yet. Realistically, it'll be many months before that is possible. I plan to get the Subaru BRZ Limited because of the additional features.

Here are a few things that I think could use some improvement:
The console needs a lid.
The glovebox needs a lock.
The interior light needs to be further back and reading/map lights need to be up front.
Trunk needs more light.
Needs self dimming rearview mirror. (At least it's available as a DIY add on.)
Needs rain sensing wipers.
Rear foglight needs to be functional.
Bi-xenons need to be an option on all versions.

This brings me to my rant on Japanese cars in general....
They need to learn what options are. Go take a look at BMW's or MINI's online configurator and you'll see that there are literally thousands of possible combinations available just for the picking. The Japanese manufacturers and dealers relish telling you that you're not at Burger King. You don't get it your way, you get it our way or you don't get it at all. If their manufacturing process was half as evolved as they want everyone to believe, then it'd be capable of enough agility to accomidate this.

I don't have one yet, but after seeing it in person and looking at it, these are some things that irk me (FR-S, not BRZ):

• No sunroof
• No options/single-spec
• Needs a bit more torque
• Back seats are useless
• Don't like the "T" fake CF pattern on the dash

And most of all:

• It's a damn Scion

As others have said, I want my car to have the heritage of the Hachi, Celica, Supra, and MR2, not ricer performance-less tCs and cube-shaped econoboxes. Screw you, Toyota, and your stupid North American marketing strategy!

I love the Scion badge. Nothing satisfies me more than the look on haters' faces when they do the whole "LOL ITS A SCION?" and I pop the hood so they can have a look-see at the FA20.

I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to call

The same effect (in fact it would be multiplied) would be there if your car was a Toyota. And the reason for that is that Toyota hasn't made a sports car in a long time, so everyone associates Toyota = economy, reliability, efficiency and boredom and Priuses or Priii or whatever the plural form of that word is.

Trust me, I know. I drive one, for Christ's sake. Every time I tell someone I drive a Toyota, they say something along the lines of, "Oh, you should have gotten something more fun, Toyotas are granny cars."

So, essentially, you're P.O.'ed because everyone thinks you drive a Mom-mobile? Although I had a chance to drive a tricked-out Camry (V6 and all the fixins) and that was a pretty solid car, with a great rumble when you really punched the throttle. But, sadly, it was still a Camry.

The FR-S is still a cool car, whether or not its a Toyota or Scion. One car will not make the whole of the Toyota brand "cool" again.

5 years ago, I had the same type of people asking me to do that in my tC.

You're not understanding the point. I love the FR-S. It's a great car. And I don't hate Scion either. I've seen some owners who have done awesome stuff with their tCs. But the thing I hate about it is the stigma associated with the brand. It's not the car, it's the driver. And it seems like Scion has a lot of drivers who give Scion a bad name because they ruin perfectly good automobiles. And like you said, one car still won't change that stigma, although it would have a greater chance if the brand was Toyota.

Then your argument goes both ways--the stigma of Toyota is the Grandmas driving Priuses to save the environment, and sadly, BORING.

At the end of the day, this is up to Toyota (North America) and their marketing department. That's the image they want to project. Yes, there will be more douchebags in Scions than in Toyotas, yet Scion is far from what would be considered a "douchebag" brand. If anything, its slightly upscale from the Ricer Hondas, Nissans, and to some degree Hyundais that pervade the streets in this day and age. I'm just happy that this car made it to this market, and will be excited to drive it when I get mine. :happy0180:

It's actually amusing whether you've got it badged Toyota or Scion, because as mrwiggles says, pop the hood and you've got a big fat SUBARU staring right back at you.
