Long story short, you usually don't see all these silly vents on racecars, and if they're there, well the air is probably coming from somewhere that typically wouldn't be letting air through on a street car. If the "vent" simply opens up air to allow a wake behind an object, it's there just for show.

Uhm...i wouldnt say it was rice. Extreme and a bit too loud or aggressive, sure....But definitely not rice. Rice would be having 3 sets of canards going down the side of the front bumper and a mesh grille.

Lets not get confused on what "rice" really is.

3 sets of canards and never hitting the track would be rice. 3 sets of canards on a record setting track car would be an advantage.

Waayyy too many vents, and I doubt any of it is really functional.

Is this a drift kit?
Those vents are use to vent out tire smoke for the crowd? The HKS Altezza drift car has huge vents in the back for that.

Those are diffusers that aide in rear traction

Rear ventilation like that is actually very functional, and no its not to vent tire smoke. Unlike streamlined airplanes, the rear of a vehicle is aerodynamically constipated, with large wakes of vacuum that affect drag in a way that it slows down the vehicle and promotes lift. By channeling air; under and around the car, via vents, we can control the air so the drag improves top speed, and downforce.

Yes I agree, but don't you also have to have an under body to channel that air for the vents to be useful? Just having a vent won't be much more efficient I'm guessing.

For that Altezza drift car, it was put there to vent tire smoke. Said by HKS in an article I read a long time back.

Its more effective to have an underbody channel, but its not always the point. Vents can also used to evac high pressure waves, like found in wheel wells during HPDE. Those don't necessarily require underbody channels.

most race cars aren't aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Function isn't always beautiful to the general populace..which is why we have Form>Function / Function>Form wars on the net now. Especially with the stance movement.

why mess with aftermarket kits and pay lots of money when they will crack in any given time.. I personally hate aftermarket kits i track my car, drift grip etc so i like to keep it practical with my cars.. front lips body kits nice wheels arent for me since if i go off the road i dont wanna be crying over a 3k worth wheels and body kits.. anyways.. Moving on..
