If Subaru decides to release an STI version of the BRZ down the road...

Would that mean Scion would release an equal version of the FR-S?

Or... would the BRZ then be the only route to go, to get the more powerful setup, leaving the FR-S the lesser performer?

Also.... If either company decides to release performance enhancing parts seperately, like TRD components or whatever... Would these be entirely interchangeable between both FR-S + BRZ?

For performance parts, it should work because all the mechanicals are identical.

Since I work as a high-level executive at Toyota Motors, and moonlight as the Vice-President of Vehicle Design at Subaru of America (hey, times are tough, and some of us need two jobs!), I can tell you with absolute authority that Subaru will NOT be releasing an STi version of this car. However, Toyota will... but not as a TRD. Since Scion is a hip brand aimed at Millennials, it will be a new tuning arm called XRD, since "X" is more extreme (and research shows a 37% higher approval rating for things that are extreme, yet spelled with an "X", amongst the 18-30 year old demographic. Also? The other letters stand for "radical" and "dope") The Scion XRD FR-S will come only in neon green, and the Monster Energy drink edition will feature carbon fiber cupholders, and a coupon good for $5 off a 24-pack of Monster Energy drink (redeemable only at your local dealership, MSRP of $50 a six-pack).

OR... you can recognize that asking an internet forum for something that would be a pretty classified executive-level business decision for one of the largest vehicle manufacturers on Earth is a pretty pointless endeavor, and that any feedback you get on here will be no more or less valid that what I just told you.

P.S. If you want to change it to "do you THINK it's likely we'll see performance versions from both companies?", then just speaking out of my butt I'd say Toyota will build one overseas, but not import it to America, and Subaru won't actually build one at all. That's just my hunch. Subaru builds BRZ's in too low of a volume to have a separate "high-performance" edition, and Toyota doesn't even think there's a market here for convertibles or even base cars with HID's, so I highly doubt we'd see a hot-rod version.

scion usually offers dealer upgrade, but i dont think ive heard of subaru doing that. im assuming if the put a turbo in a brz and call it an sti, they wont be releasing a dealer turbo kit for NA brz's right?
