Eh, fuck that "collector's item" shit.

I'd rather see the car (and other worthy competitors) continue to be manufactured indefinitely. Otherwise, you're always stuck buying a 10 -20 yr old car if you want to have some fun.

And the more they sell, the more likely they'll bring out super-wazoo ultra cool editions.

This car sells well, I would not at all be surprised to see a 35K Supra version within a few years.

Who said anything about a "collector's item"?

I hope the car is made available as a T top or Aero top like the MR2 or Supra, the rag top would loose the shape and use up the boot space. I also hope a turbo version is made available as the basic boxer engine is only around 140 BHP.
Anyone know how to contact Toyota development so we can petition for a 240+ BHP Aero top?

I like this idea sans the top you mentioned.

front passenger is a little far up, but everything else looks proper. Or they just slid the passenger seat all the way forward :P

It is a nice chop, makes the convertible look nice.

I live in Florida, so I dig the convertible. I love the mustard yellow, and the orange over on the photo chops.

Pretty good Axel, I just don't care for the Tan trim and the red seats. Doesn't really flow that well for my tastes. Good job though.

This is sad news IMO, I would have liked to see the FT-86 remain a true sports car in coupe form without any convertible or automatic transmission.

I took that same stance in the "automatic" thread and since I've realized that whatever helps this thing sell will be positive. It may not be what some of us want, but it's the best thing for this car so it will stay alive and thus the aftermarket will jump on it in a hurry.

I guess that makes sense but it's still nice to see cars like these only come in 1 configuration and I think makes it more original and special. I think having 350z roadsters make the 350z coupe less appealing..

Imagine if the S2000 came in Coupe, Convertible, Auto, Manual... Obviously there are hardtops available for them, but they still were only produced with 1 configuration: Convertible, 6 speed... Take it or leave it.
