No one has their own cable...

You have to use the ecutek cable included in the pro ecu kit.

If you want to share a cable with someone that's fine.

Rewriting the tune with the newer dealer flash will not cost anything

if its so easy to update our tune when we add for instance a header back exhaust or something, wouldn't it be easier to just change that stuff our selfs? I mean arent you just like checking a box in the software or something how does it work!

That's mostly ego.. But maybe you have a good tuner and a bunch of bad tuners in your area.

Why is the car like this from the factory , emissions and other reasons

Think it's about time we get a sticker with a FAQ

The manufacturers needs to please many people/organizations/governments.

The tuner's job is to please you.

Have you ever seen a radar graph?

Imagine you can only fill so much of this graph. In one direction you have fuel economy, in another you have power, in another you have emissions, and so on and so forth. The manufacturer is going to spread their butter real thin in every direction. Power won't be where it could be. Emissions won't be where it could be. I think you get it by now.

The aftermarket tuner has far fewer people to please and can specialize how the engine does its work and put all the jelly on your piece of toast.

Edit: I've never seen a tuner at work. I've never been present when a vehicle was being tuned. But I know that there's slightly more to it than checking the box for 'Aftermarket Exhaust' or 'Aftermarket Turbo @ 8 PSI". By 'slightly' I mean a fuck-ton.

If only the ECU was designed from the get go with that kind of customization available. It would be awesome for all of us but fortunately for guys like John, who would be put out of work, that is never going to happen.

Quick question John,

Is the Liscence tied to the car/vin or to the driver?

Say I flash a tune and my car gets totaled. Do I need to repurchase the liscense from Ecutek?

Better yet, say I sell my car and flash it to stock after buying the new 20xx model. Can I use the flash on the new vehicle? or will the liscense be on the old vehicle.

License is for the ecu.

If you total your car I'll take care of the license for you. New vehicle is a new license

Many upsides. Are there any downsides to the tune like increased wear on the engine, etc?

That's my main concern as well.. Especially since it raises the rev limit.. I'm all for this flash, just wondering how much the stock internals can endure, and for how long.
