Posted this in the wrong thread I guess.

Say we have our own cable and a bluetooth adapter whatever; can we then just get the software and the tune? Also if we have an issue with the dealer and they flash the ECU do we send you the ECU information and you rewrite the code... for another 900 bucks?

Correct only for the FI tune - which I'm still trying to figure out the final pricing. But will be fair.

I saw this and I had to respond.

Full Disclaimer: I use both PCs and Macs. I mostly use Macs due to the fact I am a Physics and Video Technology teacher. Unfortunately only Macs run Final Cut Pro X natively. (And yes I know you COULD work around this, but its not worth the effort)

1080P is a HORRIBLE resolution for both Macs and PCs. I am pissed that 8 years ago I could get a monitor with a higher resolution then 1920x1080P. Now due to manufacturers being lazy, all LCD/LED panels utilize the same components with a maximum resolution of 1080P.

As an owner of a Macbook PRO Retina display I can flat out say there is a huge difference between my old macbook pro and my new one. Where once I had to utilize my 27" LCD monitor for editing, I can now use my laptops display and get more clarity for detail.

Am I saying that everyone and their mother needs to get a mac? No way. I think there are a select few like myself who need certain capabilities that the mac does offer.

I will say this: I know I can buy a laptop for $500 that is a Windows PC, but I also know that the Macbook air for 500 bucks more is lighter, smaller, and typically faster. And in most cases will last longer.

Now for desktops? If you are not buying or building a PC you are an idiot. Nuff said about that.

As for Visconti's tune: Holy crap dude. You are doing an incredible job, and now I just need to figure out how on a teacher's salary I can scrounge up the cash for the tune.

I find it interesting that you raved about the resolution offering of a retina display, then go and recommend the macbook air with the abysmal resolution of 1366x768. LOL. Hell, my 650$ tablet w/ dock has a 1920x1200 resolution . Also, the new Zenbook Prime offers a better, faster, higher res laptop in the same form factor of the Air. I've been very impressed with Asus' offerings.

I ordered my kit, now all you guys need to order yours so we can all get discounts!!!

Linux FTW, Mac and PC are both trash. Also 2560x1600 > 1080p the U3011f is magical. If you can afford it 2560p is the way to go. Retina display is a gimmick to make stuff more expensive without just straight up telling people that you enjoy a 50% profit margin on all items.

Also Visconti can you answer at least one of my questions? Stage 2 soon or will Stage 1 work with exhaust and intake, and Can we use our own cables and adapters for PC or Android to upload the tune and can we pull it off and swap easily for warranty work? AND if we do need to change our stock flash to keep our warranty is it another $950 each time we have service done to the car that requires ECU work?

The group buy he posted includes the ecutek cable and security dongle. With it you can flash back to stock for warranty work, and then flash back to the Stage 1 afterward yourself. He's also providing free updates for his NA Stage 1 tune.

Not sure about exhaust and intake though.

Yeah I know about the resolution difference on the MacBook Air, not everyone NEEDS high resolution only some us do. And I also agree on the Asus products. I really love Asus and what they produce. In fact I use their routers. If you haven't used them, they are absolutely fantastic. I haven't seen the Zenbook, but I'll research it.

And I agree. I can justify $750 fairly easily for the tune.

Also I feel bad about jacking the thread, so I am not going to respond anymore. Not because I necessarily agree, but because I don't want this thread to be a MAC/PC debate. I think there are those that hate Apple (I know I used to be one of them) and those that hate PC. You can never change their mind. Its the same reason I will never own a Honda, I feel other car manufacturers offer more for less.

Last edited by Sojhinn; 08-09-2012 at 02:32 PM. Reason: Sorry John no more mac debate.
