Because its retarded to buy your kid a $25k car if it's their first car. When my step-daughter was 16 she got a $3k car because thats the smarter choice. When she graduates college in 4 years I'll consider upgrading it but it teaches several lessons about life IMO. If you are one of those kids who's parents did buy them the car, great, just take care of it, it's not like you would turn down a free car - nothing more frustrating that seeing a nice thing treated badly because they didn't have to earn it themselves. There are plenty of good kids out there who probably can do that, but there are far more who cannot.

I find it interesting to see some criticism of people with $500/mo payments. Hopefully those are because the people are trying to pay their car off in sub 5 year loans, preferably 3-4years.

Either way, you got the car you wanted (hopefully) and so it really doesn't matter how the next person did - we all (again hopefully) share the common interest in these cars...now just don't F* them up with useless stance lowering/camber.

How about buying them a $250k car for their first car?

For some odd reason, this thread sort of reminds me of driving by the ghetto, or "hood," and seeing nice and shiny cars in front of f*cked up houses and/or low income housings.

Additionally, I'll admit that I'm a hater towards spoiled ass kids. I grew up not having anything and witnessed my half siblings get everything they asked for even after how much they f*cked in school. At the end, I'm kind of glad I wasn't spoiled. It taught me a lot and have been on my own since 17 yrs old. Yeah, I know, cool story bro, right?

As Method Man once said in a lyric, "f*ck the world...don't ask me for sh*t. everything you get, you got to work hard for it." It's A LOT more satisfying IMO.

There's no reason for hate. But not for respect either. In life you earn points for your own actions.

You don't choose your parents. Whether or not someone is paying for their car...really can't tell you about their character; unless of course they're paying $500/month.

Not my first car. My parents can afford to buy me car and graciously offered to. I'm thankful that I'm as lucky as I am to have all the opportunities I have; after all, that's what my parents came to this country for. Blind hatred for someone whose "mommy and daddy" bought them a car...is well just that, blind. It reeks of jealousy and stinks of envy. I'm glad you (any of you) bought your car, even if you are paying $500/month which is pretty fiscally irresponsible (unless of course you did your math and can afford to do that, factoring in a layoff). It's not like my life got handed to me on a silver platter and I get everything I want while being a degenerate entitled fuck.

Paying off a loan early is smart, if you can afford it.

No, I think you misunderstood what I said. Making large payments is fiscally irresponsible unless you KNOW you can do it. If you have enough saved where a layoff won't result in the car being repossessed then you're fine...your payments just suck.

I'm glad you bought your car on your own merit, but living month to month is dumb and dangerous.

Yeah. I totally get that. I just thought his min payment was over 500 a month and was like huh? could have done the math to see but felt lazy.

I agree. Really only had cause for stress 1 month, everything is smooth sailing now . Unfortunately no upgrades on the car for a while

For those paying >$500, is it because of a shorter term, markup, or higher interest rate?
