I just bought a 100sqft roll of fatmat for 140 shipped. I saw a few people use it and I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not a big audio guy. I just want the car to be quieter.

If you do this on the BRZ, can you make a photo journal of it? I'd be interested in following along.

Its really hard to decide since I only have the Dynamat and Be-Quiet packages infront of me, I guess I can only decide if I see all the products first hand.

Dynamat is way too heavy, I will be using quiet a bit of deadening and I still want to stay at 30LB's no higher .. Fatmat is a tad heavy than be-quiet I think.

And that sienna build is alot of labor, We dynamat my friends yukon everywhere.. I mean everywhere.. I think it was just 1500$ in dynamat , took us about 2 weeks 3 hours each day

RAAMmat & Ensolite Everywhere

There are over 50 pics describing this job, just as thorough with the TC too.
The double layering using mesh to cover access holes in the front doors and the rear hatch will punish you if you lose your patience, but the results are worth it. The Sienna had 140 lbs added to it (alot of double layering), the TC was 52

All the interior panels were covered with Ensolite, as well as the carpeted areas over the top of the RAAMmat.

This is what i use. For doors, I like the damplifier and a ~8-10" patch of overkill right behind the speaker.

I like Cascade VMax, it comes in 10"x10" sheets and is very lightweight, they also have a product called VB5 that has adhesive already on it which is why i prefer it to Ensolite. You can get it at partsexpress.com

Depends. Warranty denials these days need to be proven that the modifications caused or facilitated the failure. Consider any sort of exhaust or intake mod, if you have an engine problem, the dealer could point to the aftermarket bits and deny the claim. So, installing acoustic deadener would likely never be the scapegoat for a warranty claim denial. It needs to be related, so a transmission bearing failure couldn't be blamed on your acoustic deadener, but a damaged door card or blown speaker might.

And BTW, a voided warranty does not mean the *entire* vehicle warranty is thrown in the trash, it just means your claim for a specific problem was denied. It may go into the system as such, so other dealers may also choose to deny the same warranty claim based on a previous dealer's notes in your service records.

In other words, sound deadener is pretty safe.

What is the right way to install sound deadening? If I were to limit myself to say 50 to 100 sqft for the whole car - would that be enough to get the job done (mainly trunk and doors).

Never installed sound deadening before, I just want to make sure I do it the right way.
