I felt it at about 11:30 last night. It was a single strong jolt and then a slight circular movement. It's been over a year since the last earthquake. There is talk of an 8.7 hitting in the near future.

one of these days the BIG ONE will shake Cali appart - I hope its not for hundreds/thousands more years.

I feel for you guys being on such a dangerous fault line.

where I am from, Ottawa Canada, is on a very minor fault line and last summer we got a 4.9 quake and that scared the piss out of me ( I was on the top floor of my building)

Earthquakes are a part of life down here in Souther California. I worked for the Southern California Earthquake Center for a few years and had access to all sorts of data chronicling the seismic history of the state. There's alot of misconceptions about quakes and their frequency. Needless to say, there's no way of predicting them and there probably wont be for some time. Best advice is to just stay prepared in the event of a large quake. No need to live in fear, just be ready.

I was in the Bay Area during Loma Prieta, then when I moved to SoCal, Northridge followed. I'm in Central California now, so you can't blame me for this one!!!!!

I agree with Shinjiro N. Just have to be prepared.
