I've been missing a backup camera since I traded in my G37. After having a camera for so many years you rely on it so much lol.. It is a little pricey but if somebody can confirm that it will work on the BRZ Limited I will definitely purchase one. I read on the forum that the BRZ Navi unit is missing some connection that other Subaru Navi units have to be able to add on a camera.

There is a guy on here (and NASIOC), SVXdc, who makes harnesses for the other Subaru NAV units to connect a normal RCA input for the backup camera for like $20 but is not currently selling the harnesses for the Fujitsu Ten units on his website. He also sells the pins so you can just make your own pin-to-RCA connection, and add in the ground wire. I emailed him to see if he had plans on making a plug-in harness. From a post he made on NASIOC, these are the pinouts for the 16-pin connector which is used for the camera.

6 Parking brake

7 Camera +6V supply (HU sends power to OEM Camera)
8 Camera Video In
15 Camera Detect (connect this to chassis ground)
16 Shield/ground

From a picture I found of the back of the stock HU, only the parking brake lead seems to be connected on our units.

My guess is you could probably build your own for far less than $100.

The camera is an option on the JDM BRZ, but I would guess Subaru charges some insane amount for the camera, you can just get one off ebay for pretty cheap.

Just to clarify. This is not the factory JDB unit offered in Japan and Europe correct? What brand is this kit? I do miss my backup camera, but $325 just for the kit does seem a bit high to me. Anyone put one on yet? Also, where are you guys located? Do you do the install job yourself? If so, how much for the kit installed? Thanks.

Really 325.00?

Subaru part number H001SSC700, which is the camera you show (minus the mounting bracket) MSPR is 160.00, so that's 165.00 for cables and plugs. Plus the camera is a four wire connection to the head unit (no external power).

Guys, this is his vendor thread (in the wrong section?). If you don't like what he has to offer, please respect and refrain yourself from posting and move along.
