has this happened to anybody else

When I first got the car, I had tons of other cars trying to race me. They would ride my bumper real close or rev their engines next to me at a stop light then peel out, or match my exact speed for a while on straightaways. But I noticed this hasn't happened anymore since I rebadged my car.

My back emblem is the 86 piston sign instead, so I was thinking maybe they have no idea what kind of car it is and rather not get embarrassed, while before they were confident enough to race a scion. any thoughts?

Interesting how people suddenly shy away when they dont know what kind of car you have. Another reason to get those 86 emblems on.

I've only had one guy try to race me, and that was leaving a meet.

No matter how you badge it, it's still a scion.

I think it's a coincidence.

I don't think people are pulling up next to your "86" and saying...

"Oh no meng! Don't race that fool, he got a terbo in dat 86! U gon looose!"

I haven't had anyone try and race me, but I do get a lot of "thumbs ups"

Or you could say "no matter how they (corporate) badge it, it's still a Toyota/Subaru"

You could say the same about lexus too(until 2005, Aristo/GS, Altezza/IS, Celsior/LS, Harrier/RX, etc), but no one ever dares to think that their heavily priced luxury car wore a Toyota "T" in most other countries...dun dun dunnnnn.

I think the correct statement is "No matter how you badge it, it's still a Toyobaru."

Considering the chassis is littered with "Subaru" all over the place...

Ive had 6 idiots trying to race me if i remember correctly a Genesis Coupe 2.0T, a 350z, a civic SI, a corolla S, a corvette, a riced out eclipse. I dont street race and hate these idiots getting right beside my door staring like imbeciles reving their engine, if only they knew how stupid they look.

I had some asshat pull this last night. It looked like a regular A4 with maybe tint and smoked lights? He darted around and past me. He was flying. But the light was red in front of us. He came to a stop and I kept on driving in the right turn lane.

Whaddadbag.

I'm kinda scared that I'm gonna get a ticket because one of these f-tards is bringing unwanted attention my way from the boys in blue.

i dont think its the badge change -- but put a picture of how that looks where did you end up buying it.
i get that almost every week when i pull it out. i was on a mountain road just going for a spin last sunday when comin in the other direction a whole crapfull of crazy young kids in their 240sx,Zs and honda civics.. they all saw me flying the other direction and i saw each of them stop quickly and flip a U right in the middle. needless to say they finally caught up cause i let them and just rode my ass for miles - until i decided to punch thru the turns and saw them having issues with their cars.. finally i pulled over at some country store just to show them i wasnt playing the cat-mouse game anymore ... but they all too stopped and just looked at the car for a while.. the fist few weeks, i had guys almost getting in wrecks in rush hour traffic trying to catch up and rev up the engine... + alot of thumbs up i think too.

its pretty funny sometimes. but that was pretty extreme when a bunch turned around on a 2lane road...lol

You could, but I don't recall there ever being a "toyobaru" brand. That is just the nickname given to the vehicle by us, much like the saabaru.

I also see Denso stamped on the car in several places. Does that make the car a Denso?

Does the fact that Camarys in north america are made in a Subaru plant make them subaru Camarys?

A brand is given to a vehicle by its creator. You can do whatever you would like with that car once you purchase it, but you will never make it something it isn't.

Side note: a lot of people I know ask what kind of car is it (when I show them one on the road, I dont own one yet). Many people who are not ''car people'' think it looks a bit like an exotic or higher end sports car.

oh so true. the sheer beauty and great lines of this car hits everyone indeed. my 65yr old female neighbor .. older couple last wknd.. the lady came out around dusk when i pulled it out to go for a ride -- she walked and spent 20min telling me how nice and expensive and how beautifull that car is -she said, i just had to come over and look at it closer and she went onand on about how very nice it looked and she was amazed. now this is a sr. citizen just knows nothing about cars and she said.. she felll in love with the car at first look and she cant get enough of it.

now, thats amazing but true.
