What the hell Subaru? At first I was kidding when I said their assembly workers were drunk and blind, but now I think there may be some truth to it...

Homelink mirror doesn't work properly. I pull in the garage and the first thing you want to do is turn the engine off so you don't get smogged, but then go to put the garage door down and it doesn't work. Same with opening the garage door, you have to start the engine (or at least turn the key on) before being able to open the garage door.
My BMW had the same problem. Acura gets it right as they are active as soon as you get in the car and even after you shut the engine off. Very annoying! And a waste of $200+ for the homelink mirror.

BRZ MT Limited owner here

Love the car - thank you Subaru and Toyota - I am very impressed.

Most of my comments and concerns have been posted by others already. Here are some additional thoughts:

- I hate the red stitching
- Sun visors are a little too short
- Some toe room under the front seats would make the rear seat useable
- 12V sockets do not work with car off
- Provide a wood-grain option for the Limited trim instead of the silver plastic

Work off the issues in this thread and I'll buy another one!

I had to double check to see if I read that correctly...

Wood-grain, in a twin? I bet you want shag carpeting and gold plated curb feelers too.

If I had not seen these pics myself, I'd never have believed it. Umm, that is a serious QC issue. They really should be offering you a new car, not one that was incorrectly sent out of the factory and then repaired at a body shop. If ever there was a case for a lemon law, this is it.

Are you driving it or is it in the possession of Toyota?

I agree with you 100%. I do have the car in my possession. They are having me take the car to a "Toyota Preferred" Body Shop this Friday to have the damage looked at/ work up some form of an estimate. I don't know if they are wanting that to be the fix or if they are just doing it to go through proper procedures?

They have been great to work with so far. My rep has called me daily with updates, but I will not know if it is just lip service or great customer service until we find out if they are going to replace the car or not? It is easy to sound sympathetic until action is required. Small or not, I paid for a brand new car with no accidents. Repairing the frame of the car is right there with selling me a wrecked car.

I trust them to do the right thing and make a true believer out of me though. Corporate Toyota/ Scion has not done anything to lose my faith in them yet. This will either turn into a great testimonial, are just the opposite. I know I already mentioned this elsewhere, but I really hope I didn't lose the level of customer service I have had from Subaru on my last 3 STI's by going with the FRS over the BRZ.

I own a manual FR-S

Audio System (Bespoke) - looks nice, but limited additional functionality. It's essentially useless over the base system unless you have an iphone, and it sounds like most of the iphone functions aren't that great.

Engine - pretty noticeable flat-spot as far as torque goes. Most noticeable for me in the 1-2 shift, which seems to drop me right into the dead spot. Overall, no huge complaints. It generally does what I expect it to.

Sound - it sounds a bit like a piece of farm equipment. Again, I wasn't expecting it to sound great and I'm not complaining. Just mentioning. Piping intake noise into the cabin is an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how well it works. I noticed this car sounds a lot different (worse) when sitting in the passenger seat. Since the noise is piped in on the passenger side, I think it has something to do with the intake piping. I will probably remove/plug this up and see what the difference is.

Please do NOT change this. As someone that parks their BRZ outside the garage I don't want the garage door opener to work until they have the fob present. My Genesis coupe's was always "live" and I worried about someone smashing the window and getting into our house with just that one button.

cmss2000 - just hit the start button without pushing in the clutch and it will power on the door opener and other accessories.

There is no "start" button in the premium....I added the mirror afterwards. Maybe Subaru should make it inactive if the car is locked (and not opened with the key). That way it wouldn't work if someone smashed your window. I find it practically useless as is.

^ That would be best. I have more than once turned off the car only realizing I had not opened the garage yet and had to turn the car back on to do so. But I'd rather deal with that compared to the always works version the Genesis had.

PLEASE do a little something with the keyless fob so that it isn't so ugly. I would think a little paint in the Subaru emblem wouldnt cost much.

While the seats hold one in place nicely, they are a bit hard and cause me some sciatic nerve issues on longer drives. The passenger seat does this to my wife within minutes of getting in the car, hence she never rides with me. A slightly softer seating material would probably mitigate some of this, as would adding more seating adjustments. For me, as a taller driver, raising the seat front to provide thigh support would be wonderful. Providing some lumbar adjustment would be great for shorter drivers like my wife.
I just came back from a road trip from NJ to Indy to watch Moto GP (BRZ). The seats are great for short drives - very supportive and all. BUT my biggest gripe was the center upper back seems to dip in while the outer walls of the seat push your shoulders forward. This is causing me tons of shoulder and upper back / neck pain. Adding some additional cushion in the center top of the seat where the shoulder blades meet probably would resolve this issue. I had to put a pillow behind my back the entire time.

In addition, the bottom cushion is a tad hard after a few hours. Adding a softer layer of padding to have an airy feel may also help cool our bottoms.
