Yesterday close to home a Macca. No idea which one... they all look the same.. today a nice ole M5 (used to be very common sight but now seeing one this nice is a treat). A Corvette..Lambo SVJ, an Aston with a very popping black metallic paint and a cute Type R (a rare sight in the UK)..

Oh, a Banksy...

I took Purple Reign on the Boot ‘n Bonnet Car Club’s Spring Tour. We had over a dozen participants including a Lotus Elan FH coupe, a modified MGB GT with Rover a Rover V8 and Sebring body kit. My pick was a beautiful 1973/74 Europa owned by a Florida couple who summer here in Ontario where their car lives. You can see from the photo it was quite the eclectic group from XKE coupe to the old Rover Sedan.

I couldn’t resist a blatant plug for my Caterham which also shows the Europa and MGB Sebring.

Do you wear a raspberry beret like the ones you find in a secondhand store?

The colour IS Cadbury’s purple known as Pantone 2685c. Cadbury has been using this purple colour since 1914, when it was introduced as a tribute to Queen Victoria. The company was given a royal warrant in 1854, making it the official cocoa and chocolate makers for the British monarch.
During the long and drawn out legal battles over Cadbury seeking to copyright this specific colour the term “purple reign” was used many times in print and video reports. As you can see by the heading on this article:

https://www.iplawwatch.com/2022/08/31/cadburys-purple-reign-high-court-allows-cadbury-to-register-their-iconic-purple-colouring/

The Caterham and Lotus 7 Club wrote about our car in their magazine Lowflying in the May 2024 issue. The article was entitled “A Glass And A Half” taken from Cadbury’s well known slogan. (The wife had two purple hoodies made up with the the glass and a half image.)

Thus the name was chosen for us plus, I like the play on Prince’s song/album/movie titles.
FYI, this is the only Caterham the factory has ever painted in this colour. The car including the purple was a very special order supposedly based on a Caterham show car. However, that show car was the first “K” series powered 7 which was blue. It was on the stand at Earls Court with a number plate that read “Auberge” which was the song/album titles from Chris Rea. I have been in contact with the owner of that car which is now painted a different shade of purple than ours along with a multitude of other changes. Although he has a document stating it was commissioned by Cadbury for promotional use the Caterham archivist cannot confirm that. Also, if that were true why was it originally blue?

That is the car I mentioned which was sold to another chap in France. It was originally blue but repainted plum purple.

There is quite a big difference in the colours when compared side by side.

This afternoon I was following this little buzz box.. it had an aggressive aero kit, gold coloured wheels and rally inspired livery.

Or you're evil! I'm colour deficient and can’t blue from purple in that collage.
