The wife will go out on the back deck with the dogs to watch the sun rise and let me sleep in. We often have lunch, afternoon and/or evening coffee out there too. Precious has found a new spot on the back deck when we’re are at the little table.
Some days they just want to know where we are. Other days they have to be where we are.

Sadly we lost our sweet Newfoundland, Luna today. She debuted on this thread back in 2013.

Sweet girl, and she had a great 12.5 years. She lost the ability to get herself up off the floor due to a neurological issue, and was showing signs of distress and pain. Well, as much as dogs do, they are very stoic about that stuff.

Dogs never live long enough.

It’s never easy to say goodbye to one of your fur babies. We understand your sadness but also how grateful you must be to have had the warmth, love and companionship of Luna for the past 12 ½ years.
The wife and I have had to say goodbye to many fine furry family members. It’s never easy but the memories help ease the feeling of loss.

Yea, we too have lost too many of our beloved canine family members over the years, but it doesn't get easier.

Two of my sons came over last night (she was their dog as much as ours) and we had steaks all around (including Luna) and told stories and memories. It was a great evening, and Luna got leftovers for breakfast this morning.
