I asked Grok to optimize an itinerary. 365 days, 40 locations. After a couple of criteria were added it produced a csv file. I loaded the file into a spreadsheet, summed the days and it came to 387. I pointed this out. It apologized and redid the itinerary. Still 387 day. I pointed this out again. It apologized, pointed out the error in its calculation and produced a corrected csv file. Still 387 days. Another apology, ran it through a Python script. All fixed it claimed. Mmmm... still 387 days. This happened a total of 8 times. Apologies, found the error, new file. Still not right. I gave up, paid for a month's subscription to Chatgpt5 and finally got a workable timetable. This itinerary will not be used; it was a test run. But I was amazed at the simple mistake that Grok was producing. It didn't seem to recognize the error when calculating, only in hindsight but it didn't learn.

I have struck AI hallucinations before but not simple addition errors like this.

I actually think the models have regressed a bit, or are trying to do too much too quickly.

I've been using ChatGBT and CoPilot a bit while trying to learn to use some CAD software (Adobe Fusion). Almost every time I try do get it to explain something the first answer is wrong. I correct it and usually I get a good answer on the third or fourth try. Most of the time the wrong answers lead me to discover the right answer on my own so it never gets it fully right.

A couple of weeks ago I was caught in a traffic jam on I85 South between the Georgia/SC state lines. I was curious to find out why so I asked "Can you tell me why I85 South was closed down at mile marker 2 in South Carolina, near the bridge for Lake Hartwell on..." and I gave the specific date.

ChatGPT, Groc and a couple of others all gave me a news article about a hole that needed to be fixed in the bridge. Makes sense, except that event was almost a year before the date I specified. It wasn't until I said that was incorrect and please check for closures not directly involving the bridge that it came up with the correct answer.

I also get the same thing you saw all the time where it gives me the same incorrect answer over and over again, or will regress part of the answer we have already corrected as it is solving another part of the answer it got wrong. This is particularly true with artwork.

FINALLY! For few days I wasn’t able to load the forum.

Yes, I’m still alive… just lack of sleep from new baby, but that’s all the parents go through, so nothing to bitch about.

I suggest you feed the baby more solid food before bedtime. If it's teething, rub brandy on its gums before bedtime.

You need to focus on your duties as a forum administrator instead of making babies all the time.

She’s less than month old… teething won’t start for another 3~6 months.

I've got so much FR-S stuff laying around gathering dust. Time to see if there is any value in it. I posted several items in the For Sale subthread.

The lesson here is I love ordering stuff, but am a huge procrastinator when it comes to installing!

Quit futzing with your airplanes for a spell. Baby needs some love.

Sadly, Baby's probably in a junk yard somewhere or been recycled into tuna cans.

Yea, I still have a couple TRD parts in the box for 10 years now, and I've had a replacement reverse light switch for about 4 years. One of these days....

They are, but the rear ones mean a huge PITA to adjust them.

I have a feeling my career is going to turn into contract jobs after contract jobs, so I may take the car back to stock and sell it and get something more "grown up."

I always told my better half if I got to that point, to put two in the back of my head. But not tracking it, and just getting constantly beat up on the daily commute sucks.

Hopefully I'll be able to find another remote gig for a SaaS company soon. I don't like that I'm supporting an industry that got me and a bunch of my friends laid off a few months ago.
