Anyone know the best way to make short ribs? I don't have a smoker. Maybe crock pot?

Braised has always been my favorite. Pretty easy, always comes out tender.

Might be good, but probably a bit chewy.

I do ribs on my Weber grill using the "Texas foil-start Method".

Do the normal prep (clean, remove the membrane, etc)
Apply your favorite rub
Wrap them in Aluminum foil meat side up.
Put a little liquid in the foil. I usually use bourbon or beer but you can use apple juice or vinegar or even butter.
Wrap the ribs tight.
Cook them meat side up for 2 to 2.5 hours at 275 degrees
Unwrap the ribs, and return to grill.
Brush on BBQ sauce or a glaze.
Cook for 15 to 30 minutes depending on the crust you want.

You won't have the smoke, so you could apply a little liquid smoke during the foil process.

Here is how I do it.

I Ask mrs humfrz to jump on her i-pad and dial up Outback Steakhouse.

Place an order and pay for a full slab of baby back ribs (Ribs on the Barbie).

I run down to the restaurant and pick them up.

Full order makes two meals.

Eat them up - yum-yum.

I assume a gas Weber? I have charcoal. I've maintained low and slow on it, but takes a lot of attention.

Yea, it's a gas grill. Should have mentioned that. It works on charcoal too, but it would take a lot of attention to keep it hot that long. You can also do it in an oven this way. That's what a lot of restaurants that don't have smokers do.

My Mother in Law does it in her slow cooker and they turn out pretty well. Don't know her technique but she likely looked it up on the web.
