When I my OBD-I S52 swap into my E30 in 2009, I was able to use R3V to find out EVERYTHING I needed to know without asking a single question. Wiring harness adapter, brake booster, which ECU, and on and on.

Now there are posts about "how do I change the blink on my 2nd gen twin" when it's literally a f------ setting you can access through the headunit.
I use this forum constantly when working on the car. It really is amazing how much information is stored here. I hope it lasts...

FB, reddit and other avenues are useless.

Yep, sure does beat the hell out of the old days, where you had two choices; borrow a rich kids Chilton's Automobile Manual or stop at an auto shop and ask one of the old mechanics, the next time you were in town.

Yes forums are FAR superior to social media platforms. I'm just saying without enforcement they can become as useless as those social media platforms are when you end up with hundreds of threads on the same topic.

And there are A LOT of people on social media that constantly and confidently share completely incorrect information. Before the rise of social media, on forums, people like that were corrected and information deleted by mods/admins until they finally shut up and went away.

I realize I'm sounding real crotchety right now, but incorrect information is bad for guys actually trying to learn and being led astray by those suffering from the "Dunning-Kruger Effect."

Nope, it's just a maintenance screen whenever it's white. Looks like they've updated the interface of the website. Don't like the "red" font of the username since it can mislead if they're moderators or not. Still, the forums is becoming a bit more active. Hope they can add a dark/light mode feature to the forum.

Sadly, the BSOD (blue screen of death) is no more as of Windows 11 24H2. While it's still BSOD, it now black, not blue, and doesn't include the sad face emoji or a QR Code.

Why do I have to use a VPN to access this site sometimes? I don't usually have to use one but sometimes it won't load and so I use a VPN. But today the US VPN didn't work either. Had to switch to Australia to get the site to load again.
