Insurance adjuster approved us for a new roof today due to hail damage.

Started off as getting a leak fixed on our front porch (fortunately only impacted outside) that I called our trusted roofer to come look at figuring it would be out of pocket fix. He said the roof was really beat up and advised calling the insurance company.

USAA sent the inspector out within 3 days and it took his "climber" and him less than 15 minutes to agree. There's a cost I won't have to worry about again most likely.

Had a company come out yesterday and give us a quote for fixing rot in the door frame around the sill, both sides of both doors that go outside to the back yard. And our massive picture window in the dining room. Repairs come with a 10-year warranty, all their reviews are great, and much cheaper than replacing the the entire door frame.

Coming out next Wednesday to do the work.

I can do car stuff, but often don't anymore because I'm fat and lazy. But how stuff, I have absolutely no idea or the tools or inclination to buy said tools or learn.

The missus and I are getting to the point where grab bars in the shower are a good idea. I got one installed. Getting 6 holes in ceramic tile is a PITA. When I was starting the second hole, the bit wandered and by the time I realized what had happened it was too late. So, the bar is not quite level. There goes the resale value.

I'm having trouble finding the studs on the other wall. I seem to find the studs at the level that I want for the bar but when I check above and below that level to confirm, the studs seem to be in a different place. I looked at the outside of the wall and can see the nails in the siding on perfect 16" centers.

I'll look at it again tomorrow...or maybe next weekend.

Yep, I laid an anti slip mat on the floor of our shower - works good.

I also "installed" one of those "suction on" grab bars. It works pretty good, unless you lean on it real hard - ask me how I know that -

Why? Did it get too hot in your triple digit temperatures?

We got a new roof, but I didn't do the work. Does that count?

To be fair I could have done it as roofing was part of my misspent youth but our house is 3 stories tall in the front (basement opens to the front) and the roof is a 10/12. Yea, no thanks.

Plus, insurance paid for it.

Did the neighbors sneak into your hot tub while you were on vacation?

Of course it counts. If things like that didn't, I'd never get anything done around here -
