UK had the Vauxhall badged version, not seen one ages.. The advert for it was really bizarre.. will see if I can find it.. found one:

Is that the ad that was voted worst ad for that year? I understand the comedian who starred in the worst ad was fired.

I think the Opel I posted above belongs to one of the Club members. The other two (also club members) are Vauxhalls.
I prefer the sculptured lines of the Elise but am intrigued by the larger displacement G.M. Ecotec and turbo engines used. I have also read that the VX220 based cars are bigger with a longer wheel base and lower door sills.

The ad didn't do any favours, the badge didn't help.. and the Elise was a better drive. The Vauxhall being heavier due to that engine. The car used the same Lotus tub.

In mainland EU they're about half the price of a decent LHD Elise, which makes them interesting.

Also, they had the 220hp turbo variant which was unique to the model (and much faster than the current Elise, with plenty of tuning potential).

Lotus also made a very rare, upmarket Elise with that 2 liter turbo called the Europa, and then a racier version of that called the S (or SE?), though less than 50 of the latter were made.

Europa was only rare because they couldn't sell them... was supposed to bea GT version but it's only so much you can do when using the same structure and on a limited budget.

You're right the Opel/Vauxhall were half the value, however, unsure what's happening these days, lost track of the Lotus used car market..

Spotted a Chevy Luv on Sunday. Amazing it was still alive, and looked in pretty good shape.

Nice. A 1948 club coupe fastback. Looks well preserved. Wonder how they managed rust for old metal in London?

Just don't drive them over the winter, off the road from late October to early April... By April the salt should have been washed away.

It looks like a garage Queen.. on the same road saw some nice 60s Vespas/Lambrettas - Mods hangout!!

That's how it is here in Idaho, and about the exact same dates. They spray brine on the main roads before every storm. Fun cars sit....

Does your Exige stay off the road until the good weather? I have been meaning to get my Lancia out and about but life just takes over my best endeavours..

Yea. I haven't had it out yet. I still haven't tried to get in and out since my hand surgery. Have to be able to lift my fat rear on to the ledge to get out. Also got two new sets of rubber I need to have mounted. One for the stock LSS wheels, and one for my Cup wheels.

I have had the twin out for a few weeks.

What does your Lancia look like?
