I'm not usually a fan of the horror genre of games but I really enjoyed the Alien franchise. Haven't played Isolation yet, will have to add it to the list.
On a different subject, now that I'm retired I lost my "vacation gaming laptop" which was a generic build work laptop I used for testing non-corporate configured equipment on our network for security purposes. With our upcoming spring break beach trip I had been on the lookout for a deal on one. I didn't want to spend money on a full blown gamer laptop (which would be between $3,000 and $4,500) Ended up picking up a Dell G16 laptop with an Intel i9 and NVidia 4070 graphics for $1,000 from the Dell outlet on a recent sale. That was about 45% off it's normal price. It's basically a dumbed down Alienware M16. It doesn't have a touch screen, or a webcam (neither of which I needed for my purpose) but it seems to be more than good enough for what I do on vacation in terms of gaming. Plus it kills at playing things through Luna or streaming from Steam. The only downside is the 330W power supply is literally the size of a large brick and is very heavy. There are 3rd party ones available for half it's size so I'll have to order one of those. And, in case you are asking, why are you gaming on a beach vacation? Well, I can only take so many hours in a day on the beach, where MomHawk basically is there sunup to sundown. So, I sit on the patio of whatever place we are renting and play games or listen to books.

Been really enjoying Motor Town. It's like simple voxel type graphics but the mechanics are actually really pretty in-depth. You can play online with people too and like co-op. The combination of simple graphics and conplex mechanics brings me like autistic joy.
![]() It's a driving game mostly everything from mopeds to taxi, ambulance, police, trash, towing, trailers, big trucks, buses with customization etc.. You can get out though too and walk around it's open world. It's very physics based. Like if you buy a couch for your house you have to pick it up and throw it into a truck and drive it back. You can drive you race car onto a trailer, hook-up the trailer to a truck and drive the whole show to the racetrack. It's so good.Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

8 hours of Atomfall and I'm a huge fan. The artwork reminds me of We Are Few (which I didn't play much of, 12 hours) which I really like and the English settings and voice acting are quite charming.
My only minor criticism is it is not open world, one has to suffer through loading screens!! I thought we were past that sort of thing /s. Or maybe I just haven't played a non-open world game in such a long time I had forgotten what loading screens were.

Took a break but came back and finished the Phantom Liberty DLC. It was a really good expansion to the core game and I liked how it sort of added talking points in the main game. Guess it's time to move onto another game I haven't played in a few years!

Been playing Immortals Fenyx Rising. It's a beautiful game in 5540x1440. Took a couple of mythology courses back in my college day so the lure is interesting.
Great game. I 100% the main campaign and now working on the DLC.

Picked up Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor on two separate EA sales. Finished Fallen Order, it was a decent game, good fight mechanics although some of the enemies were a bit overpowered (I mean if I slice a bug with a light saber, shouldn't it pretty much die first hit?). There were some gameplay things I didn't like (no fast travel, enemies respawning just because you "meditate" to save the game), but overall a good game. Reached 100% fairly easily although it did take a lot of backtracking.
Survivor fixes the fast travel issue, and some other things. It also doesn't require you to relearn the skills "learned" in the first game which is nice. However, it is basically unplayable on PC (or at least some PCs). On my computer, even at highest settings, it looks at best like a bad PS2 game. Some enemies and trees are just blobs. The interwebs says this is a pretty common problem and two years in from release it's still not fixed. I gave up on trying to clear it up and got my money back.

I've had roughly 4 gaming headsets in the last 6 years. Usually I do the cheaper HyperX ones that are like $40. All have died from various issues after 1-2 years. My most recent set had the left earpiece die and the mic not work very well. I figured I'd try a higher end headset from Corsair (despite being their budget version). I swear, if this $140 headset doesn't last for 3 years, I'm never using one again.

Then one day, years later, another BETA tester and I were testing a new map and I kept getting shot. It was clear to me that he had better audio awareness of my positions than I had of his. We tested this by turning off our monitors and trying to shoot each other based on the sounds we heard as we moved around each other. He had an old set of Logitech G somethings. So I went out and bought the best Logitech product they produced at that time. The Artemis Spectrum G933 with enhanced virtual 7.1 surrounds sound. However, I learned that I had better special accuracy when the headset was set to Stereo Mode and I dialed in the left and right channels to my ears. Next time we tested with the monitor off I kicked his butt! I was sorry to see my old Sennheiser’s collecting dust but I couldn’t argue with the better KDR I was achieving with the P933’s. Then the unthinkable happened. After a few years the Logitech’s started to crap out. Mostly on the one side but then both sides. Turning them off and on usually fixed it until it didn’t. Turns out the Logitech’s have a known issue with a faulty on/off switch. So now they are sitting in the box they came in and I’m back to using my ancient Sennheiser 363D’s. My hearing has deteriorated so much that getting another high end set doesn’t make sense. I’m no good with a soldering gun and there isn’t anybody around doing that type of repair work anymore to fix the Logitech’s. They all tell me to go buy the latest and greatest from XYZ.
