OK, ugm, yeah..

Maybe it's just me but the SpaceX "spacewalk" was very disappointing. It was more like "sticking my head out the window" than a "spacewalk".

Frankly, if I'd been the guy paying for this I would have said. "Look, I want a real spacewalk, you know with my feet outside the ship and maybe even enough umbilical to actually, you know, float in space. Call me when you're ready".

lol I can totally picture the scene I'd make saying that.

Now I'm emotionally prepared for the crushing disappointment. Will watch.

Turns out I know a soon to be astronaut. One of my Fraternity brothers from college is going to be on Blue Origin NS-30 this coming Tuesday. Guess I should have stayed closer in touch over the years!

True. He's the first to admit he really isn't but he does get wings. I also know he'd rather be in something he could pilot.

I asked if he need me to come along to carry his luggage, but he declined.

Well, if you didn't watched the flight of Starship 8 spoiler alert....

...that was hugely disappointing. Booster 3, Starship 0. I thought for sure they would make it into orbit on this round. Then again, it's sort of hard to fly straight when all your steering engines (the center three) go out and you have two big ass engines on one side continue to fire at full throttle.

It re-enforces my concern that Starship does not have a launch escape plan for passengers, in the same way the Shuttle didn't have one.

Also, Space X now owns the only two space flights where they exploded above the Karman Line (in space). Technically I suppose the Apollo 13 command module explosion was above the line but it wasn't immediately catastrophic.

Even the booster, which they did catch, had engine restart issues. Two of the engines didn't restart as they should have.

I bet when DOGE hears about this, they will cut the budget by 80%.

Artemis II rolled out to the launch pad today. Multiple YouTube channels covered it live, although it's a bit like watching paint dry, but still amazing to see something that big being transported vertically 4 miles.

So far so good except there is one malfunction reported.

No joke, the fan in the new bathroom (urine collection system) is stuck.

Need dozens of engineers to help unstick that mission critical fan.

What a bunch of soft nellies. Back in the day, we'd just light a match.
